Campgrounds and RV parks near Columbia-Shuswap B, BC

The area is built around water, mountains, and short drives between them. Blanket Creek Provincial Park has a warm man-made swimming lagoon, adventure playground, historic homestead site, and easy access to scenic Sutherland Falls. Car-top boats, canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards can be launched off the beach after a short 200-metre portage from the day-use parking lot. Inside Mount Revelstoke National Park, the Meadows in the Sky Parkway climbs to a subalpine summit area with short interpretive walks and longer day hikes. Trails from near the summit lead to Miller, Eva, and Jade Lakes through subalpine meadows and boulder fields. Anglers can target rainbow trout, bull trout, and kokanee salmon in the Arrow Lakes reservoir, and Revelstoke itself offers a railway museum, rafting operators, and a downtown grid within easy reach of every campground on this list.

The frontcountry camping window is short and predictable. Blanket Creek Provincial Park operates as a reservable campground through the summer season, with the gate closed and services unavailable during the off-season. In Mount Revelstoke National Park, Snowforest Campground is typically open from late May through mid-October, while Eva Lake and Jade Lakes backcountry sites are reservable through the mid-summer to early-fall window, pending snow conditions. Alpine access opens late. Due to significant snow accumulation at high elevation, the summit-area trails are usually only accessible from mid-July through September. The upper Meadows in the Sky Parkway also has vehicle-length limits: vehicles over 26 feet cannot travel up the parkway beyond a certain point due to the sharply winding road. Winter is a different trip entirely. There is no winter frontcountry camping in Mount Revelstoke National Park, and sleeping in vehicles in parking areas is prohibited. RV travellers in the shoulder months should check park status pages before towing in, since wildfire closures do occur in late summer.

This is bear country and campers should plan accordingly. Dogs must be leashed at all times, bears at Blanket Creek often wander through the campground drawn by fruit trees left from old orchards, and all food and pet belongings must be kept in hard-sided vehicles or bear-resistant lockers. Expect wet weather even in summer. The Columbia Mountains push Pacific moisture upward, and rain can arrive quickly in any season. Firewood is available for purchase in the park, but campfires may be banned during high-risk wildfire conditions. Services are adequate but not lavish. Blanket Creek has flush toilets, showers, and a sani-station; Snowforest has some sites with electricity but the closest sani-dump is in the city of Revelstoke; and private resorts fill the gap for full hookups, laundry, and Wi-Fi. Cell coverage is reliable in town and around Blanket Creek, but drops off quickly on backcountry trails.
