Campgrounds and RV parks near North Okanagan D, BC

North Okanagan D is a rural electoral area in British Columbia's North Okanagan Regional District, east of Vernon on the Shuswap River and Mabel Lake, near the western slopes of the Monashee Mountains. RV travelers use it as a base for lake camping, river paddling, and fishing, with the town of Lumby providing the nearest fuel, groceries, and services. The main destination campground is Mabel Lake Provincial Park, set in a mountain valley with sandy beaches backed by a cool forest of hemlock, red cedar and birch. The park is 60 kilometres from Vernon, and Lumby, the town closest to the park, is 36 kilometres away, so campers stock up before settling in. Private options round out the mix. Echo Lake Fishing Resort sits within a BC Provincial Park about 20 km southeast of Lumby in the Creighton Valley, framed by the Monashee Mountains. Cedar Falls Campground and Cedar Falls Campground and RV Park sit north of Vernon in a treed setting on the way toward Silver Star, and Shuswap Falls RV Resort offers 132 spacious, well treed sites on 37 acres along the Shuswap River with 1,200 feet of riverfront.

Provincial and private sites use different systems. Mabel Lake Provincial Park campsites are booked in advance through BC Parks' Discover Camping online reservations site, and reservations are highly recommended between late May and Labour Day in early September. From April to mid-May and again from early September until the park closes, some sites are first-come, first-served only, and these sites accept cash payments only. Private resorts book directly. Echo Lake Resort takes reservations through echolakeresort.ca, and Shuswap Falls RV Resort and the Cedar Falls campgrounds use their own booking channels. Popular summer weekends fill weeks ahead, so RV renters should confirm site length limits before booking: Echo Lake accepts self-contained RVs and trailers up to 30 feet total length, while larger big-rig sites are available at Shuswap Falls.
