Campgrounds and RV parks near Bas-Caraquet, NB

Bas-Caraquet sits on the northern edge of New Brunswick's Acadian Peninsula, on the southern shore of Chaleur Bay. The village faces Caraquet Bay and looks across the water toward the Gaspé Peninsula, giving campers open water views and easy access to a working harbour. The area is compact: most campgrounds worth an RV renter's attention sit within a fifteen-kilometre radius, strung along Route 145 and the coastal roads west toward Caraquet and east toward Shippagan. Closest to town, Camping Shippagan and Chalets Et Camping Des Iles Jeannot pull travellers heading for the Miscou and Lamèque island loop. West along the bay, Camping Colibri sur Mer and Maison Touristique Dugas Camping put RVers within a short drive of Caraquet's marina and restaurants. Camping and Motel Colibri, located in Bertrand, adds an inland option closer to the Village Historique Acadien. The inventory here is mostly private campgrounds, with provincial park options a longer drive away, so trip planning usually centres on the coastal private sites.

Reservations split cleanly between public and private systems. Provincial-park sites are booked through the Parks NB online reservation system, which opens nightly bookings in early February for the upcoming summer and requires a credit card at booking. Sites at the more popular provincial parks in northern New Brunswick go quickly once the window opens. Private campgrounds near Bas-Caraquet, including Camping Shippagan, Chalets Et Camping Des Iles Jeannot, Camping Colibri sur Mer, Maison Touristique Dugas Camping and Camping and Motel Colibri, take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Larger private sites often hold seasonal contracts on their best waterfront pads, so ask about transient availability specifically. For holiday weekends and the Festival acadien week in early August, plan to book two to three months out.
