Campgrounds and RV parks near M'Chigeeng 22, ON

M'Chigeeng 22 is an Anishinaabe First Nation community on Manitoulin Island in northern Ontario, roughly centred between Little Current and the south-shore ferry port of South Baymouth. Manitoulin is the largest freshwater island in the world, and the M'Chigeeng area sits within easy driving distance of the island's best-known beaches, hiking, and inland lakes, making it a practical hub for RV travellers touring the region. Private campgrounds dominate the local landscape, since the island does not have an official backcountry and most stays happen at family-run parks offering tents, RVs, cottages, and cabins. Options within a short drive include Mindemoya Court Cottages and Campground on Lake Mindemoya, Stanley Park Campgrounds, Batmans Cottages Tent And Trailer Park, Providence Bay Tent and Trailer Park on the Lake Huron shore, and South Bay Resort and Campground near the ferry terminal. Most sites offer serviced RV pads with 30-amp power and open seasonally around the warmer months when the ferry is running and island attractions are staffed.

Campgrounds around M'Chigeeng are privately operated, so bookings go directly through each park by phone, email, or the operator's website rather than through Ontario Parks' central reservation system. Many sites in the area are held by seasonal campers, so nightly availability is limited and it pays to reserve early for summer weekends. Getting an RV to the island requires planning the crossing. From the south, the MS Chi-Cheemaun ferry operates between Tobermory and South Baymouth across Georgian Bay, and vehicle reservations are strongly recommended. From the north, the Little Current Swing Bridge connects the island to the mainland via Highway 6 and opens to marine traffic for part of each hour during the summer season, so allow buffer time when planning arrivals. Book ferry passage and campsites in parallel, since a confirmed sailing dictates the check-in day.
