Lake Huron beaches at Grand Bend and Ipperwash are the most popular day trips, both under an hour north. The Ausable River corridor around Arkona offers hiking and fossil hunting at Rock Glen Conservation Area, which sits beside a waterfall and connected trails. Port Stanley on Lake Erie is about an hour south for beach days and fishing charters. Closer to town, families use Rock Glen Family Resort for pools, mini-golf, and splash pads, while Trout Haven Park offers a stocked rainbow trout pond and a catch-and-release pond open to campers and day visitors. Cyclists can pick up the Thames Valley Parkway system in London, and golfers have several courses within a short drive, including Arkona Fairways. Greenview Aviaries Park and Zoo and the small-town main streets of Grand Bend, Bayfield, and Port Stanley round out rainy-day options.

Most private campgrounds in the Strathroy-Caradoc area operate from May through mid-October, matching the frost-free window. Trout Haven Park typically runs from early May to mid-October. Rock Glen Family Resort is an exception, staying open year-round with indoor and outdoor pools and cabins available in the colder months. Summer, from late June through Labour Day, is peak season. Weekends at Lake Huron parks fill early, and holiday long weekends often sell out months in advance. July and August bring warm lake temperatures, thunderstorms that can move through quickly, and busy beach days at Pinery and Grand Bend. Spring is variable, with cool nights lingering into May and higher rainfall in April and May. Fall is a strong shoulder season: comfortable daytime temperatures through September and into early October, fewer crowds, and good colour along the Ausable River. Winter brings lake-effect snow squalls off Lake Huron from December through March, and many private parks close for the season.

Driving an RV in and around Strathroy-Caradoc is straightforward. Highway 402 between London and Sarnia is a flat four-lane corridor, and local roads through Middlesex and Lambton counties are wide and lightly trafficked outside summer weekends. Hookup availability varies by campground. Private parks such as Trout Haven Park and Rock Glen Family Resort typically offer sites with water and electrical service, and some sites with sewer. Trout Haven advertises pull-through sites suitable for larger rigs. Ontario Provincial Parks including Pinery provide electrical service at many sites but no water or sewer at the site; sanitation stations handle dumping and fresh water fills. Comfort stations with hot showers and flush toilets are standard at both public and private parks in the area. Cell coverage is generally good along Highway 402 and in town but can drop off inside wooded provincial park campgrounds. Grocery stores, propane, and RV supplies are easy to find in Strathroy, Grand Bend, and Forest.
