Campgrounds and RV parks near Hotevilla-Bacavi, AZ

Hotevilla-Bacavi sits on Third Mesa on the Hopi Reservation in Navajo County, northeastern Arizona, at roughly 6,270 feet of elevation. The community is a census-designated place first settled in 1906 after the Oraibi Split, when a group of Hopi residents left nearby Oraibi over disagreements about outside cultural influences. The village itself does not operate a public campground, so RV travelers typically base out of parks on the surrounding Navajo Nation and along the Interstate 40 corridor to the south. The closest developed options span a wide radius. Sunset View Campground inside Navajo National Monument is open year-round with over 30 tent and RV sites on a first-come, first-served basis, and camping is free. To the west, Cameron Trading Post RV Park sits on US-89 near the Little Colorado River gorge, and to the south the Winslow area offers Homolovi Ruins State Park and Meteor Crater RV Park. Navajoland Inn and RV Park provides a closer overnight option on Highway 264. This is high desert country. Distances between services are long, cell coverage is patchy, and most campgrounds are simple. Plan fuel, water, and groceries in advance.

Reservation systems vary by operator. Homolovi Ruins State Park takes campsite reservations online through Arizona State Parks. Same-day reservations can be made by coming to the visitor center in person or by calling the park office at 928-289-4106 by 4:45 p.m., and entries for non-registered campers will not be accepted after that time. Sunset View Campground at Navajo National Monument is open year-round, first-come, first-served, no reservations required, and camping is free. Meteor Crater RV Park and Cameron Trading Post RV Park both accept advance reservations by phone or through their websites, and pull-through sites at Meteor Crater can fill on summer weekends. Navajoland Inn and RV Park is booked directly through the operator.
