Campgrounds and RV parks near Fairbanks Ranch, CA

Fairbanks Ranch is a gated community in San Diego County's North Coastal zone, surrounded by Rancho Santa Fe, Del Mar, and Solana Beach. The location places RV travellers within about a fifteen-minute drive of the Pacific and within an hour of downtown San Diego, Legoland, and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. There is no public campground inside Fairbanks Ranch itself, so RV renters typically base out of nearby coastal or inland parks. The closest options sit at the Del Mar Fairgrounds complex. Surf and Turf RV Park is located just blocks from the beach and across the street from the San Diego Fairgrounds and the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, and the Del Mar Fairgrounds RV Park sits on the same property. Santa Fe Park RV Resort offers a more amenity-heavy inland setting just east of Interstate 5, while Escondido RV Resort sits farther inland near State Route 78. For ocean-bluff state-park camping, South Carlsbad State Beach offers direct access to around three miles of Pacific Ocean shoreline and is roughly a half-hour drive north.

South Carlsbad State Beach can be reserved up to six months in advance on the California State Parks website or over the phone through ReserveCalifornia. There are only 15 hookup sites at the campground, all clustered together near the camp store, so summer weekends go fast. The maximum length of trailers that will fit in the sites is 35 feet, and consecutive stay limits are 7 nights March through November and 14 nights December through February, with a 48-hour gap required between reservations. At Surf and Turf RV Park and Del Mar Fairgrounds RV Park, reservations can be made 2 months in advance, with a maximum stay of 21 days in a calendar year. Santa Fe Park RV Resort and Escondido RV Resort book direct through their own websites and tend to have more midweek availability than the coastal options.
