Campgrounds near Good Hope, California
Good Hope is an unincorporated community in Riverside County, California, located just east of Lake Elsinore along the Highway 74 corridor between Perris and the lake. For RV travelers, it functions as a quiet base within a short drive of several lakeside parks clustered around Lake Elsinore, including Lake Park RV Resort and Lodge, Launch Pointe, and Elsinore Hills RV Park.
The closest options to Good Hope include Meadowbrook RV Park and Camper Resorts of America on the eastern side of the lake, with Elsinore Hills RV Park, Lake Park RV Resort and Lodge, and Launch Pointe lining the Riverside Drive shoreline to the west. Launch Pointe is a Southern California destination for Lake Elsinore RV camping, with seven camping areas that range from peaceful, secluded stays to spacious lakeview lawns, along with unique lodging options such as vintage trailers and yurts. The area sits between Los Angeles and San Diego off the I-15 freeway, making it a practical stopover or weekend destination for renters coming from either metro.
Things to do near Good Hope
Lake Elsinore is the regional draw. The lake hosts boating, jet skiing, kayaking, and fishing through the warm months, and a California fishing license is required for anglers. Launch Pointe, located at 32040 Riverside Drive in Lake Elsinore, provides direct lake access from its waterfront sites.
Families staying at Launch Pointe can enjoy a canopy court playground, a splash pad, a hot tub, and on-site boat rentals. Off-water options include hiking in nearby Cleveland National Forest along the Ortega Highway, wildflower viewing at Walker Canyon north of the lake when blooms are open, and day trips to the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve. Temecula wine country sits roughly 25 minutes south, and Lake Perris State Recreation Area is about 40 minutes north for additional swimming and picnicking.

Summers in the Lake Elsinore area are hot, arid, and clear, and the winters are long, cold, and partly cloudy. Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel, with mild days and cool nights well suited to lakeside camping.
Winter is the wettest part of the year. During the winter season, precipitation levels in Lake Elsinore are notably higher compared to those experienced during summer, with January typically the wettest month. Lakeside parks generally stay open year round, but cold storms occasionally drop overnight temperatures into the 40s.
Summer brings high heat, with July and August daily highs commonly in the low to upper 90s Fahrenheit. Demand for waterfront sites peaks from Memorial Day through Labor Day and on weekends throughout summer. Just north of town, the Walker Canyon Trail is popular for wildflower spotting in late winter and early spring, although the city has closed the trail during recent superblooms to manage crowding, so renters planning a bloom trip should check the city's status page before arriving.

My 2 kids loved the trailer, we got it delivered with all the optionals included so It was a breeze. Everything worked great - ac & heater where required a couple if times. Water tank was full but we ran out after 3 days even thou we used the camping showers, so I would plan accordingly if you are camping without hookups. I’d definitely rent from Daniel again.

Booking and reservation tips
Most lakefront parks near Good Hope take reservations directly through their own websites or through third-party platforms such as Campspot and Good Sam. Launch Pointe's website is used to review pricing and availability, select additional amenities such as boat rentals, and book a stay, and the park is city-owned by Lake Elsinore. Summer weekends, holiday weekends, and any confirmed wildflower superbloom periods fill earliest, so RV renters should book lakeview and full-hookup sites several weeks ahead.
Cabin and unique lodging units, including yurts and vintage trailers at Launch Pointe, are limited in number and tend to sell out before standard RV pads. Boat launching at the public ramp is handled separately from camping reservations and is generally first-come, first-served, with daily closures possible once the parking lot reaches capacity.
What to expect on arrival
Parks along Riverside Drive are developed RV resorts rather than rustic campgrounds. Expect paved or graveled pads, full hookups at most sites, on-site laundry, and pool or splash-pad amenities at the larger properties. Launch Pointe features 200 plus full hookup RV sites with 30/50-amp service, water, sewer, and Wi-Fi, accommodating rigs of all sizes.
Sites near splash pads and play areas can be tight, and some parks enforce quiet hours strictly. Cell coverage on major carriers is generally solid given the proximity to the I-15 corridor. Renters should expect daytime road noise from Riverside Drive at the western lakefront parks, lake views from many but not all sites, and a short drive into the town of Lake Elsinore for groceries, fuel, and restaurants.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Good%20Hope%2C%20CaliforniaDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Good Hope, California?
For the vast majority of rentals, your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Good Hope. California's standard Class C license covers any motorhome 40 feet or shorter and trailers up to 10,000 lbs Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), which includes nearly every campervan, Class B, Class C, and travel trailer on the RVezy platform. You must be at least 25 years old, and RVezy will verify your ID right inside the booking flow, so there's no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from overseas? Grab an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country before you fly in and you're ready to roll out toward Lake Perris.
dmv.ca.gov/portal/handbook/california-driver-handbook/driver-license-classes/What protection and roadside assistance come with my RVezy booking?
You're covered from the moment you book. Every RV rental in Good Hope through RVezy includes a renter protection plan that covers most damage to the vehicle, plus 24/7 roadside assistance baked right in, so a flat tire on Highway 74 or a dead battery at Lake Perris State Recreation Area is just a phone call away. During checkout you'll choose from different protection plan tiers, letting you pick the level of coverage that matches your comfort level (hosts don't set this, you do). It gives renters meaningful peace of mind and real financial protection. First time renting an RV? That safety net is exactly why so many Good Hope guests feel confident hitting the road.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy if my Good Hope RV trip plans change?
Plans change, and RVezy is built to handle it. RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every booking (hosts don't), and there's a grace period after booking during which you can cancel for a full refund. After that, your refund depends on how far out from your trip start you cancel. You can review the full policy details on the RVezy Help Center before you confirm. Pro tip: lock in your dates early for popular Lake Perris summer weekends, knowing you have clear cancellation guidelines if life shifts.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Good Hope?
Absolutely, pets are welcome on plenty of trips. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to instantly see every pet-friendly RV rental in Good Hope and the surrounding Perris and Lake Elsinore area. Many hosts simply ask that you mention your pet in the booking message so they can prep the RV accordingly. Once you're out exploring, Lake Perris State Recreation Area welcomes leashed dogs in the campground and on paved roads (though not on the main swim beaches), and the trails around Diamond Valley Lake are popular with local dog owners. Pro tip: bring a collapsible water bowl, summer pavement in Riverside County gets seriously hot on paws.
parks.ca.gov/?page_id=24762Can the RV be delivered to me in Good Hope instead of picking it up?
Yes, RV delivery in Good Hope is one of the easiest ways to skip the stress of driving a big rig yourself. Many RVezy hosts will deliver your motorhome rental in Good Hope directly to Lake Perris State Recreation Area, Launch Pointe in Lake Elsinore, your driveway, or even a friend's property nearby, then level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before they leave. Just check the Delivery filter when searching, or message a host to confirm their delivery range and fee. Pro tip: delivery is a game changer if it's your first time renting an RV, you arrive to a fully set-up campsite and start vacationing immediately.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Good%20Hope%2C%20CaliforniaHow does mileage work, and how far can I realistically travel from Good Hope?
Mileage is flexible and totally up to your trip plans. Each RVezy host sets their own mileage policy, and you'll see it clearly on the listing before you book, ranging from a daily allowance with a per-mile fee to RV rental with unlimited mileage for road-trip-minded renters. From Good Hope, you've got incredible range: Joshua Tree National Park is about 90 miles east, San Diego is roughly 75 miles southwest, Big Bear Lake sits 70 miles north, and Los Angeles is around 75 miles northwest. Pro tip: if you're planning a longer RV road trip from Good Hope toward the Eastern Sierra or Sequoia, filter specifically for unlimited mileage listings to keep your budget predictable.
nps.gov/jotr/planyourvisit/directions.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Good Hope for my RV?
You've got fantastic options within a short drive. The best campgrounds near Good Hope start with Lake Perris State Recreation Area (about 8 miles north), which offers 264 paved RV sites with water and 30/50-amp electric hookups plus a free three-lane dump station. Launch Pointe Recreation Destination & RV Park on Lake Elsinore (around 12 miles southwest) has 200-plus full-hookup sites, a splash pad, and lakefront access. Wilderness Lakes RV Resort in Menifee (20 minutes away) is a Thousand Trails favorite, and Rancho Jurupa Park near Riverside adds river views with full hookups. Pro tip: Lake Perris caps RVs at 31 feet, so if you're renting bigger, aim for Launch Pointe instead.
parks.ca.gov/?page_id=651When is the best time of year to take a Good Hope RV trip?
Good Hope's Mediterranean climate means RV season really runs year-round, with March through May and October through November being the sweet spots. Spring delivers wildflowers across the chaparral hills and daytime highs in the 70s to low 80s, while fall cools off after the summer crowds clear out. Summer (June through September) regularly tops 95°F and frequently pushes past 100°F at Lake Perris, so plan for early-morning hikes and a generator-equipped RV for AC. Winters are mild, with daytime highs in the 60s and crisp nights in the 40s, which is why locals know December through February is prime time for RV camping in Good Hope without the crowds.
weather.gov/sgx/I've never rented an RV before. Will the host actually show me how everything works?
Yes, and that's a huge part of why first-time renters love RVezy. Every RVezy host in Good Hope provides a hands-on orientation at pickup (or delivery), walking you through how to operate the generator, slide-outs, water pump, propane, awning, leveling, and dump procedures. You can message your host directly from the listing before booking to ask any question, and you can keep messaging them throughout your trip if something pops up. Plus, 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every booking. Pro tip: ask your host to record a short video of key systems on your phone during the walkthrough, it's a lifesaver when you're setting up at Lake Perris after dark.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV on my trip?
You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering flat tires, lockouts, jump-starts, fuel delivery, and towing if needed, anywhere along your route from Good Hope to Joshua Tree, Big Bear, or the coast. Your host is also just a message away through the RVezy app for quick troubleshooting like resetting a breaker or relighting the water heater. For anything bigger, RVezy's customer support team is reachable before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number to your phone contacts as soon as you book, and snap a photo of the RV's VIN sticker during your walkthrough for faster service.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Good Hope RV rental into Mexico or out of state?
Cross-state road trips are absolutely on the table, but Mexico isn't. RVezy rentals are not allowed to cross into Mexico because insurance coverage and the protection plan don't extend south of the border. You can drive your RV rental across state lines into Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and beyond. Popular RV road trips from Good Hope include Las Vegas (around 260 miles north), the Grand Canyon South Rim (about 470 miles), Zion National Park (around 430 miles), and the Pacific Coast Highway northbound. Pro tip: confirm your route with your host in the booking message so they can flag any toll roads or mileage considerations.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and budget should I plan for?
Plan smart and fuel won't surprise you. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes typically get 8 to 12 MPG, and larger Class A rigs run 6 to 10 MPG, while trucks towing travel trailers usually see 9 to 13 MPG. Gas prices in Riverside County tend to run a bit higher than the national average, so check stations along the I-215 and I-15 corridors near Perris and Lake Elsinore using GasBuddy before filling up. For a 4-day, 400-mile loop from Good Hope to Joshua Tree and back in a Class C, budget roughly $180 to $250 in fuel. Pro tip: top off in Hemet or Menifee instead of inside Joshua Tree gateway towns, where prices spike.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Good Hope?
Book early and you'll have your pick of the best sites. Lake Perris State Recreation Area opens reservations up to six months in advance through ReserveCalifornia, and summer weekends, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day genuinely do sell out months ahead. For Launch Pointe in Lake Elsinore, reserve through Campspot 2 to 3 months out for summer weekends. Off-season (December through February) you can often grab a hookup site just days before. Pro tip: if Lake Perris is fully booked, set a ReserveCalifornia alert, cancellations open up frequently within 7 days of arrival, and that's how locals score lakefront sites on short notice.
reservecalifornia.com/What are the driving conditions like around Good Hope?
Driving an RV around Good Hope is genuinely manageable, even for first-timers. You're right off Highway 74 and a short hop to the I-215 and I-15 freeways, which are wide, well-maintained, and easy to navigate. Watch for afternoon Santa Ana winds in fall (they can push high-profile RVs around on the I-10 toward Palm Springs), and plan to climb the Ortega Highway (Hwy 74) toward the coast only in daylight, since it's a twisty two-lane mountain road. Summer heat means tire pressure swings, so check it cold each morning. Pro tip: route through Temescal Canyon Road or the I-15 instead of the Ortega if you're heading to the coast in a larger motorhome.
quickmap.dot.ca.gov/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Good Hope?
You'll find well-equipped campgrounds throughout the area. Lake Perris State Recreation Area offers paved RV sites with 30-amp (and select 50-amp) hookups, potable water spigots, hot showers, flush restrooms, and a free three-lane dump station near the campground entrance. Launch Pointe at Lake Elsinore has full hookups including sewer at every site, plus Wi-Fi, a pool, splash pad, and on-site general store. Most parks in Riverside County have water fill stations near the entrance, and dump stations are typically free for registered campers. Pro tip: if you're boondocking or staying somewhere without sewer hookups, Lake Perris's dump station is open to day-use visitors with a paid day-use fee, super handy on your drive home.
parks.ca.gov/?page_id=28262What's inside a typical RVezy rental in Good Hope?
You'll be amazed how loaded up these rigs come. Most RV rentals in Good Hope sleep 4 to 8 people across a master bed, convertible dinette, and bunk or sofa beds, with a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), bathroom with shower and toilet, AC and furnace, and DOT-approved seatbelts for travel. Many listings include a generator (essential for running AC at Lake Perris in summer), solar setups, outdoor speakers, and some even have rooftop TVs or interior smart TVs with streaming. Wi-Fi hotspots are a popular add-on. Pro tip: filter listings by sleeps count and check the photo gallery carefully, and message the host to confirm generator hours included per day if you're heading somewhere without electric hookups.
parks.ca.gov/?page_id=28262What add-ons and pickup options can I expect from Good Hope hosts?
Customizing your trip is part of the fun. Common add-ons from Good Hope and Perris-area RVezy hosts include linen and towel packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits, generator hour bundles, portable Wi-Fi hotspots, BBQs, e-bikes, kayaks, fishing gear (perfect for Lake Perris), and even camping chairs and outdoor rugs. Pickup is typically at the host's home in Good Hope, Perris, Menifee, or Lake Elsinore, with most offering a 30-to-60-minute walkthrough. Many hosts will also do one-way delivery to your campground for a flat fee. Pro tip: bundling delivery plus a full setup add-on often saves your first vacation afternoon for the lake instead of leveling jacks.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Good%20Hope%2C%20CaliforniaHow do payments and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and secure. When you book a campervan rental in Good Hope or any RVezy rental, you'll pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card, never directly to the host in cash, which keeps your payment and protection plan coverage intact. A refundable security deposit is held separately from the booking payment and is released back to you after the trip if there's no damage, missing items, or unpaid mileage overage. To avoid issues, do a thorough video walkthrough with your host at pickup and again at drop-off. Pro tip: return the RV with a full fuel tank and empty, clean holding tanks, those two simple steps prevent the most common deposit deductions.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksHow do I handle the summer heat on an RV trip near Good Hope?
Smart planning turns Good Hope's hot summers into a fun adventure. Daytime temps from June through September often hit 95°F to 105°F in the Perris Valley, so book an RV with a working roof AC and a generator (or a campsite with 30/50-amp shore power like Lake Perris or Launch Pointe) so you can run cooling all day. Drive in the early morning or after sunset to ease the load on the engine, and hydrate constantly, this is high desert chaparral country. Pro tip: shoulder seasons (March-May and October-November) are the smart-money move for a family RV trip in Good Hope, with daytime highs in the 70s, lower campground rates, and easier reservations at Lake Perris and Diamond Valley Lake.
