Campgrounds and RV parks near Janesville, CA

Janesville sits in Lassen County in the Honey Lake Valley, on the eastern flank of the Diamond Mountains. RV travelers use the town as a quiet base between Reno and Lassen Volcanic National Park, with most developed camping clustered around Susanville and Eagle Lake, roughly 15 to 30 miles to the north and northwest. Private full-hookup options closest to town include Days End RV Park in Janesville and Susanville RV Park in Susanville, both convenient for highway-oriented RV trips on US 395 and CA Highway 36. For lake-based stays, Crocker Springs RV Park, Eagle Lake RV Park, and Eagle Lake Marina put travelers on or near the south shore of Eagle Lake, California's third-largest natural lake at about 22,000 acres. The same shoreline falls within the Lassen National Forest's Eagle Lake Recreation Area, which includes four Forest Service campgrounds (Christie, Merrill, Aspen and Eagle), three day-use areas, and a marina, all linked by a 5.2-mile paved trail.

Forest Service sites in the Eagle Lake Recreation Area are booked through Recreation.gov. Merrill Campground has 172 sites in total, with 125 reservable online and 45 walk-in, first-come, first-served sites in the #15-#42 and #57-#75 ranges. Eagle Campground offers a mix of reservation sites, walk-in sites, small group sites, and a handful of sites with electric and water hookups. Reserved sites must be occupied by checkout time (noon) the day after the arrival date or they may be released. BLM campgrounds on the north and east shores are largely first-come, first-served. Private parks, including Days End RV Park, Susanville RV Park, Crocker Springs RV Park and Eagle Lake RV Park, are booked directly with each operator and tend to fill on summer weekends and around fishing-season openers, so reserve several weeks ahead for July and August.
