Campgrounds near Saticoy, California

Saticoy is a small community in Ventura County, California, positioned inland from the Pacific coast and within easy driving distance of beach, foothill, and ranch-style campgrounds. RV travelers basing here can reach oceanfront sites on Highway 101 within roughly fifteen minutes, with state-park camping a short drive west and south along the coast and KOA-style camping a short drive north toward Ojai. Ventura County sits at the southern edge of California's Central Coast region and offers beaches, Los Padres National Forest, the Channel Islands, the Ojai backcountry, and quiet agricultural valleys. Nearby options span several styles. Evergreen RV Park and Ventura Beach RV Resort sit closer to town and suit travelers wanting full hookups. Ventura Ranch KOA Holiday is a 76-acre campground at the foot of Ventura County's highest mountain, Topa Topa, between Santa Paula and Ojai. Emma Wood State Beach offers primitive oceanfront RV camping, and Thornhill Broome Family Camp at Point Mugu State Park sits along the Pacific Coast Highway farther south.

Things to do near Saticoy

The coastline is the main draw. Ventura Harbor, downtown Ventura, and the Channel Islands National Park visitor center are all close. Ventura Harbor Village offers seafood restaurants, waterfront dining, kayak and paddleboard rentals, and boat trips out to the Channel Islands. Surfing, swimming, and shore fishing are popular at the state beaches, and a paved bike path links several coastal parks. Inland, families staying at Ventura Ranch KOA Holiday can use on-site recreation including a jumping pillow, swing set and playground, gem mining, a swimming pool, a boulder labyrinth, and the Soar Over Ventura adventure course with zip lines and a ropes course. Hiking trails in Los Padres National Forest and the Ojai backcountry are within a short drive.

The climate is Mediterranean, with mild temperatures most of the year and a wet winter. Summers are warm, arid, and clear, while winters are long, cool, wet, and partly cloudy. Over the course of a typical year, temperatures vary from roughly 46 to 76 degrees Fahrenheit. Summer is peak season at coastal campgrounds, and oceanfront sites can fill weeks or months ahead, especially on weekends and holidays. A marine layer often hugs the coast on summer mornings, then burns off by midday. Winter brings the bulk of the rain. February is typically the wettest month, averaging close to 97 mm of rainfall. Storms and high tides can affect beachfront sites at Emma Wood State Beach and Thornhill Broome. Most beach campgrounds and state parks stay open year-round thanks to the mild climate, but dry conditions in late summer and early fall raise the wildfire risk, so check fire restrictions and active incident maps before traveling. Spring brings green hills and wildflowers; fall is dry, warm, and less crowded.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ First-Time Trailer Campers, and We’re Hooked! 🚐🏕️ We had never stayed in a trailer before, let alone rented one for camping, so we were definitely newbies! Thankfully, Oscar made the whole experience a breeze. His communication was fantastic, and he patiently answered all our questions (and trust me, we had plenty! 😂). He delivered the trailer right to our campsite, hooked everything up, leveled it, and gave us a thorough walkthrough of all the interior and exterior features. Basically, he took the guesswork out of camping so we could focus on having fun! The trailer was well-equipped with pots, pans, plates, and knives, although we didn’t even need to use them. Everything was ready to go! The kids especially loved the bunks, which were a huge hit. Best of all, they had such a great time that they’re already saying they’d camp in an RV again. That’s a parenting win in our book! 🙌😂 Oscar truly went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of. We couldn’t have asked for a better first trailer-rental experience. Would we recommend Oscar? Absolutely! Would we rent from him again? You bet! We’re already looking forward to our next adventure. Looks like Oscar has officially converted our family into RV campers! 🚐❤️
