Campgrounds and RV parks near Blue River, CO

Blue River is a small mountain town in Summit County, Colorado, sitting at roughly 10,000 feet on Highway 9 between Breckenridge and Hoosier Pass. It is effectively a residential extension of Breckenridge, close to Quandary Peak and the headwaters of the Blue River itself. Most RV campgrounds in the area are clustered a few miles north around Breckenridge and Frisco, with additional options south toward Fairplay and west toward Leadville. Tiger Run RV Resort is the closest full-hookup RV park, located about three miles north of Breckenridge at the confluence of the Blue and Swan rivers. Middlefork RV Resort and Western Inn Motel and RV Park serve travelers on the south side of Hoosier Pass in the Fairplay area, while Leadville RV Corral covers the Highway 24 corridor west of the divide. Lostfork Basecamp rounds out the private options in the region. Beyond private parks, the surrounding White River National Forest offers developed Forest Service campgrounds and extensive dispersed camping on public land within a short drive of town.

Private RV parks such as Tiger Run RV Resort, Western Inn Motel and RV Park, Middlefork RV Resort, Leadville RV Corral, and Lostfork Basecamp are booked directly through each property, generally by phone or through their websites. Summer weekends in Summit County sell out well in advance, so reserving several months ahead is wise for July and August. For Forest Service campgrounds in the surrounding White River National Forest, most developed campsites are reservable in advance through Recreation.gov, typically up to six months ahead of arrival. Some smaller Forest Service sites remain first-come, first-served, while campsites in Colorado state parks generally require advance reservations. Note that campers must occupy the site the first night of a reservation, which prevents booking Friday and arriving Saturday.
