Campgrounds and RV parks near Berkshire Lakes, FL

The Gulf beaches at Naples Pier, Vanderbilt Beach, and Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park are the main daytime draw, all within a short drive west. Families often pair a beach morning with an afternoon at the Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens, which features boat tours and animal exhibits. For nature outings, Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary and Collier-Seminole State Park sit where the city meets the swamp, offering boardwalks, paddling, and wildlife viewing. Everglades airboat tours run from Everglades City to the southeast, and Marco Island is roughly thirty minutes south for shelling and fishing charters. In town, Fifth Avenue South and Third Street South provide restaurants and shops, though larger motorhomes are better parked at the campground with day trips made by tow vehicle.

The Naples area runs on a clear wet-dry cycle. Naples has a tropical savanna climate with hot summers and mild winters, high annual precipitation, wetter conditions in summer, and noticeably drier winters. That pattern drives both campground occupancy and daily trip planning. Peak RV season runs from January through March, when snowbirds fill full-hookup resorts and daytime temperatures sit in the seventies and low eighties. Reservations at the closest parks, including Northtide Naples RV Resort and Neapolitan Cove RV Resort, should be locked in months ahead for winter stays. Late spring is warmer and quieter, with better site availability. Summer brings heat, humidity, and daily thunderstorms. Afternoon thunderstorms are a normal part of Naples summers, usually forming between mid-afternoon and early evening with heavy rain, thunder, and lightning that often pass within an hour. Hurricane season runs June through November, with peak risk in August and September, so travelers should watch NHC advisories and confirm park evacuation procedures at check-in.

Roads around Berkshire Lakes are flat, wide, and easy to navigate in a rental RV. Most roads are wide and flat with manageable local speeds, though the downtown Fifth Avenue area is best avoided during peak season in a large motorhome. Causeways to Marco Island are narrower and worth planning around for big rigs. Campgrounds in this corridor lean toward paved or hard-packed sites with full hookups, 30 and 50 amp service, laundry, and pools. Shade varies: some parks are heavily landscaped, others are open and sunny. Wildlife encounters are common, including alligators in retention ponds, so keep pets leashed and children supervised near water. Mosquitoes and no-see-ums are active year-round and heaviest after summer rains. Bring repellent, screens in good repair, and expect humidity to affect awnings and outdoor rugs.
