RV camping near Brownsville, Florida
Brownsville is a neighborhood in northwest Miami-Dade County, just off the Palmetto Expressway and minutes from I-95. Its central location puts renters within easy driving distance of Miami Beach, the Everglades, and the Broward County coast, which makes it a practical base for a South Florida RV trip.
There are no campgrounds inside Brownsville itself, so RV renters typically stay at private parks nearby or farther up the coast. Options within a reasonable drive include Florida Park Miami, Twin Lakes Travel Park, Northcoast Park and Marina, Hollywood KOA, and Davie/Fort Lauderdale KOA Holiday. Most offer full hookups, paved or gravel pads, and monthly-stay sections common to South Florida RV parks.
For state and national park camping, travelers head south to Everglades National Park or north to Broward and Palm Beach county parks. Reservations for those public campgrounds are handled through separate systems, so plan the private-park stay and the public-land stay independently.
Things to do around Brownsville
Day trips from a Brownsville-area base cover a wide range. Miami Beach, Wynwood, Little Havana, and Vizcaya Museum and Gardens are all within a short drive east. Zoo Miami and the Miami Children's Museum work well for families traveling with kids.
To the west, Everglades National Park offers airboat tours, the Shark Valley tram loop, and the Anhinga Trail boardwalk for wildlife viewing. Biscayne National Park, reached from Homestead, is largely water-based and best explored by boat or snorkel tour.
North of the city, Hollywood Beach's paved boardwalk and Fort Lauderdale's beaches and waterways add another layer of options. RV renters staying at parks like Hollywood KOA or Davie/Fort Lauderdale KOA Holiday can reach these attractions without repositioning the rig.

South Florida runs on two seasons rather than four. The dry season, roughly November through April, brings warm days, cooler nights, low humidity, and few mosquitoes. This is peak RV season in the Miami area, and private parks fill weeks or months in advance, especially around the winter holidays and spring break.
The wet season runs May through October. Expect daily afternoon thunderstorms, high humidity, and heavy mosquito activity in the Everglades and coastal wetlands. Hurricane season officially runs June 1 through November 30, with peak activity in August, September, and October, when storm tracks and evacuation orders can disrupt trip plans.
Long Pine Key is a drive-in campground within Everglades National Park that is open seasonally from November to May. Many public campgrounds in the region follow similar dry-season schedules, so confirm operating dates before booking a summer trip.

How to book campgrounds near Brownsville
Private parks near Brownsville, including Florida Park Miami, Twin Lakes Travel Park, Northcoast Park and Marina, Hollywood KOA, and Davie/Fort Lauderdale KOA Holiday, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. KOA properties can also be booked through the KOA site and app. For winter stays, book several months ahead.
Everglades National Park uses two separate systems. Frontcountry tent and RV camping at Flamingo and Long Pine Key campgrounds is reserved through Flamingo Adventures, an authorized park concessioner. Wilderness backcountry permits are booked online year-round on Recreation.gov, with reservations opening daily at 10:00 a.m. ET, 90 days before the trip start date on a rolling basis.
What to expect around Brownsville
Driving an RV in the Miami metro means dense traffic, tight turns in older neighborhoods, and low clearances at some downtown garages and causeways. Stick to interstates and major arterials when repositioning the rig, and save narrow streets for a tow vehicle or rideshare.
Private parks in the area tend to run on the compact side, with paved or crushed-shell pads, mature landscaping, and full hookups. Amenities vary: some are heavily geared toward snowbirds on long stays, while KOA properties usually add pools, playgrounds, and family programming.
Bring insect repellent, sun protection, and a plan for afternoon storms in the wet season. Cell coverage is strong in the metro but drops off quickly once travelers head deep into the Everglades.

How much does an RV rental in Brownsville, FL typically cost?
You have lots of flexibility on price when you rent an RV in Brownsville. In the Miami-Dade area, motorhomes typically average around $200 per night, while travel trailers and towables sit closer to $125 per night, and many hosts offer 10 to 20 percent discounts on weekly or monthly bookings. For a cheap RV rental Brownsville travelers love, filter by travel trailers, pop-ups, or older Class C motorhomes, then look for hosts offering delivery so you skip the hassle of towing. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Brownsville%2C%20FloridaDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Brownsville, FL?
A regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Brownsville, FL. Florida does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any RV-specific endorsement for the motorhomes and travel trailers listed on RVezy, even for larger Class A coaches. You must be at least 25 years old with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID right through the platform during checkout, so there is no paperwork to mail in. Visiting from outside the US? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country along with your original license and you are ready to roll into your Florida adventure.

help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Brownsville RV rental?
Booking is low-risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every reservation, not individual hosts, and it includes a money-back grace period right after booking so you can lock in your dates with confidence. If a hurricane warning or other natural disaster affects your Brownsville RV trip, RVezy reviews those situations with care, which matters during Florida's June through November storm season. You do not have to hunt through individual listings for different rules: the same policy framework applies platform-wide. Pro tip: book early for popular winter weeks in Miami-Dade, then watch the National Hurricane Center forecasts as your trip approaches so you can plan around any tropical weather.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Brownsville?
Yes, your dog is invited. Plenty of hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental Brownsville options: just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see them instantly. Once you arrive, Miami-Dade has fantastic spots for four-legged co-pilots, including Amelia Earhart Park's off-leash dog area in Hialeah (about 10 minutes from Brownsville), Tropical Park, and the pet-friendly trails at Oleta River State Park. Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park, a popular Miami-Dade County campground, also welcomes leashed pets at its RV sites. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and any breed or size notes, most are happy to accommodate well-behaved travel buddies.
miamidade.gov/global/service.page?Mduid_service=ser1487785885528875Can the RV be delivered to my campground or hotel in Brownsville?
Yes, and it is one of the best ways to start your trip stress-free. Many RV delivery Brownsville hosts will drop off, level, and set up the rig at your campground, Airbnb driveway, or even a hotel near Miami International Airport, then walk you through every system before they leave. This is perfect if you are flying into MIA (just a short drive east of Brownsville) and do not want to navigate the Palmetto Expressway in a 30-foot motorhome on day one. Filter listings by Delivery on RVezy to see who offers it and their delivery radius. Pro tip: pair delivery with a stationary stay at Larry and Penny Thompson Park so your RV doubles as your hotel without you ever taking the wheel.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Brownsville%2C%20FloridaHow far can I drive on a Brownsville RV trip, and is unlimited mileage available?
You have real range to explore. Many hosts on RVezy offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, while others include a generous daily allotment (often 100 to 150 miles) with a small per-mile fee beyond that. From Brownsville, Key West is about 165 miles south down the Overseas Highway, the Everglades National Park main entrance near Homestead is around 45 miles, and Orlando's theme parks sit about 235 miles north on the Florida Turnpike. For a longer Florida RV trip, Tampa is roughly 270 miles and St. Augustine about 340 miles. Pro tip: check the mileage policy on each listing's details page before booking, and if you are planning a big loop, filter for unlimited-mileage listings to keep your budget predictable.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Brownsville%2C%20FloridaWhere are the best campgrounds near Brownsville, FL?
You have fantastic options within an easy drive. Some of the best campgrounds near Brownsville include Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park in southwest Miami-Dade (hundreds of RV sites with full hookups and a freshwater lake), Miami Everglades RV Resort in Homestead (pool, cabins, and easy Everglades access), Goldcoaster RV Resort near Florida City (gated, family-friendly, about 30 minutes to the Keys), Boardwalk RV Resort in Homestead, and Long Pine Key Campground inside Everglades National Park for a true nature stay. Each offers something different, from resort-style amenities to back-to-nature simplicity. Pro tip: for RV camping Brownsville visitors love during winter, book Larry and Penny Thompson several months ahead since it fills fast with snowbirds.
nps.gov/ever/planyourvisit/lpkcg.htmWhen is the best time of year to visit Brownsville, FL in an RV?
The sweet spot is November through April. Brownsville sits in a subtropical climate, with winter highs in the comfortable 75 to 80F range and lower humidity, making it prime time for an RV road trip from Brownsville to the Keys or Everglades. Summer (June through September) brings highs near 90F, high humidity, near-daily thunderstorms, and peak hurricane season activity, though campgrounds tend to be cheaper and less crowded. Spring shoulder season (March to early May) is a smart-money pick with warm weather and lighter traffic. Pro tip: aim for January or February for ideal 75F days and dry mornings, just book your campsite and RV well in advance because the snowbird crowd claims spots early.
weather.gov/mfl/I'm first time renting an RV. How does pickup work in Brownsville?
You are in good hands. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water and waste tanks, propane, AC, and driving tips for your specific rig, no guessing required. You can also message the host through the platform before your trip with any questions, and many include printed cheat-sheets or video walkthroughs. For first-timers in Brownsville, request delivery so the RV arrives already leveled and set up at your campsite. Pro tip: plan a quiet first night nearby (Larry and Penny Thompson is about 20 minutes away) so you can get comfortable with the rig before tackling longer drives toward the Keys or Orlando.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002342433-RentersWhat happens if something breaks down during my trip?
You are never on your own. Every RV rental in Brownsville, FL through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on US-1, a dead battery at a Homestead campground, or a tow on the Florida Turnpike is one phone call away from being handled. The RVezy support team is also available before, during, and after your trip if questions come up. Your host is usually just a text away too, since they know their rig best. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number to your phone before you leave the driveway, and snap a quick photo of your RV's VIN and license plate so you have them ready if needed.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Brownsville RV rental to other states or across the border?
Yes to other states, with one important note. Most hosts on RVezy welcome interstate travel, so an RV road trip from Brownsville up to Georgia, the Carolinas, or even further north is completely doable, just confirm with the host before booking. Cross-border travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. Travel to Canada may be possible with specific host approval and additional steps. Popular multi-state routes from Brownsville include heading north to Savannah (about 470 miles) or hugging the Gulf Coast to New Orleans (around 870 miles). Pro tip: message the host directly from the listing page to confirm your route before you book.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I plan for?
Plan smart and your fuel costs stay manageable. Class A motorhomes typically get 7 to 10 miles per gallon, Class C's average 10 to 14 mpg, campervans (Class B) deliver 18 to 22 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (often 10 to 14 mpg combined). Gas in the Miami area generally runs slightly above the Florida state average, so a 330-mile round trip to Key West in a Class C can cost roughly $90 to $130 in fuel. Diesel pull-throughs are widely available at Pilot and Flying J locations along the Turnpike. Pro tip: fill up in Homestead or Florida City before heading into the Keys, prices climb noticeably the further south you go on US-1.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Brownsville?
Sooner is better, especially in winter. Florida state parks like Bahia Honda and John Pennekamp Coral Reef open reservations 11 months ahead through the Florida State Parks reservation system, and the prime January through March slots can sell out the day the window opens. Everglades National Park sites at Long Pine Key and Flamingo book through Recreation.gov, often up to six months in advance. For private parks like Miami Everglades RV Resort or Goldcoaster, three to six months ahead is safe for winter, while summer often has near-term availability. Pro tip: set a calendar alarm for exactly 11 months before your target date for state parks, that is the most reliable way to score waterfront sites in the Keys.
floridastateparks.org/learn/reservationsWhat's driving like in and around Brownsville?
Easier than you would think with a little planning. Brownsville is a Miami-Dade neighborhood just off the Palmetto Expressway (SR-826) and the Airport Expressway, so most of your driving will be on wide, flat highways, no mountain passes or winding roads here. The main things to watch are afternoon thunderstorms in summer (pull off and wait them out), rush-hour traffic on I-95 and the Turnpike (avoid 7 to 9 AM and 4 to 7 PM), and low-clearance areas in downtown Miami, where some parking garages cap out under 7 feet. For taller motorhomes, stick to expressways and US-1. Pro tip: use Florida 511 to dodge backups, especially heading south toward the Keys on Friday afternoons.
fl511.com/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Brownsville?
Most local campgrounds are well-equipped for a comfortable stay. Larry and Penny Thompson Park offers full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer), a dump station, hot showers, a freshwater lake, and laundry. Miami Everglades RV Resort adds a pool, Wi-Fi, and a clubhouse. Long Pine Key inside Everglades National Park is more rustic, with restrooms but no hookups, perfect if you're chasing dark skies. Free dump stations and potable water fills are available at most full-hookup parks for registered guests. Pro tip: top off your freshwater tank before leaving the Miami area, the Keys have fewer fill stations and water quality varies, so coming in topped-up means more time snorkeling and less time hunting for a spigot.
nps.gov/ever/planyourvisit/camping.htmWhat's actually inside the RVs available in Brownsville?
More than you might expect. RV rentals in Brownsville range from compact campervans with a bed, mini-kitchen, and pop-top, to family-sized Class C motorhomes (sleeping 6 to 8) and full Class A coaches with slide-outs, queen beds, full bathrooms with showers, gas/electric fridges, microwaves, propane stoves, roof AC, generators, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many include Bluetooth stereos, outdoor speakers, and some offer Wi-Fi hotspots or starter packages with linens and kitchen kits. Each listing on RVezy details exactly what is onboard, so there are no surprises. Pro tip: for Florida heat, prioritize listings with dual roof AC units and a working generator, you will thank yourself during a July afternoon at the campsite.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Brownsville%2C%20FloridaWhat add-ons and extras can I get with my RV rental?
Hosts make it easy to customize your trip. Common add-ons for a motorhome rental Brownsville guests choose include camping chairs and outdoor tables, generator-hour packages, linen and towel kits, kitchen and cookware bundles, bike racks, beach gear, paddleboards, and pet packages. Some hosts offer airport meet-and-greets at Miami International (MIA) or Fort Lauderdale (FLL), portable Wi-Fi hotspots, and propane-tank refills. Mileage policies vary by listing (some unlimited, some with daily caps), and pickup/dropoff times are clearly shown before you book. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a linens package on your first rental, it transforms the experience from a logistics puzzle into a true vacation that starts the moment you step inside the door.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Brownsville%2C%20FloridaHow does payment and the security deposit work?
It is straightforward and secure. When you book a campervan rental Brownsville or any RVezy listing, payment is processed safely through the RVezy platform, never directly to the host. A refundable security deposit is held before pickup and released after the trip once the RV is returned in the same condition as departure. Deposit amounts are shown on each listing before you confirm, typically ranging from $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig. Pro tip: do a quick video walkaround with your host at both pickup and drop-off, capturing the exterior, interior, mileage, and fuel gauge. This 5-minute habit helps prevent deposit disputes and gives you total confidence that your trip ends as smoothly as it started.
