Campgrounds and RV parks near Marco Island, FL

Marco Island's south beach and Tigertail Beach anchor most trips, with shelling, kayak launches, and shallow water suited to younger kids. Boat tours run daily from the Marco River to Keewaydin Island and the Ten Thousand Islands, and dolphin sightings are common year-round. Inland, the Big Cypress National Preserve and the western entrances to Everglades National Park offer swamp walks, airboat concessions along the Tamiami Trail, and the Marsh Trail at Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge. Cyclists can ride the paved paths through Naples, and anglers target snook, redfish, and tarpon from backwater guides based near Goodland. Rainy afternoons pair well with the Marco Island Historical Museum or a drive up to Naples Pier and Fifth Avenue South for dinner.

The area runs on a two-season calendar. High season stretches from roughly January through April, when humidity drops, mosquitoes thin out, and highs sit in the mid 70s to low 80s. RV sites at Pelican Lake Motorcoach Resort, Naples Motorcoach Resort, and Naples / Marco Island KOA Holiday typically book months ahead for this window, with monthly snowbird reservations locking up prime spots. Late spring shoulder season, May into early June, offers softer availability before the wet season arrives. Heavy seasonal downpours or afternoon thunderstorms can sometimes occur during the warmer months, contributing to the high annual precipitation. Summer and early fall bring daily storms, strong humidity, and active hurricane risk, with the statistical peak in September. Marco Island can be quite wet during August, receiving approximately 259 mm of precipitation over 25 rainy days. Some smaller parks reduce staffing and amenities during this stretch, and evacuation orders can affect coastal sites on short notice.

Most nearby RV parks are flat, paved or hard-packed sites with full hookups, palm landscaping, and shared amenities like pools, pickleball, and clubhouses. Motorcoach resorts enforce age and appearance standards on rigs, and some, including The Waves RV Resort, a Zeman Signature Resort, restrict guests to 55 and older. Cell coverage is reliable across the Marco Island and Naples corridor. Grocery, propane, and RV service are all accessible along Collier Boulevard and U.S. 41. Mosquitoes and no-see-ums are heavy near mangroves, especially at dawn and dusk in the warm months, so screens and repellent are worth packing. Alligators, gopher tortoises, and wading birds are common on park grounds. Keep pets leashed and away from any freshwater edges.
