Campgrounds and RV parks near Bloomingdale, GA

Historic Savannah is the main draw, roughly 20 minutes east on I-16. Families use the downtown squares, River Street, and trolley tours as an easy day out, then return to a full-hookup site for the night. Tybee Island, another 30 minutes past downtown, has a public beach, a lighthouse, and shallow water suitable for kids. Fort Pulaski National Monument is located on Cockspur Island between Savannah and Tybee Island and is renowned for its well-preserved mid-19th century fort, which played a significant role in the American Civil War. Skidaway Island State Park offers hiking and biking trails through a maritime forest ecosystem, and its proximity to downtown Savannah, Tybee Island, and Fort Pulaski makes it a good base for exploring the region. Fort McAllister State Park, south toward Richmond Hill, adds a fishing pier and river access along the Ogeechee.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons for visiting the Bloomingdale area, with mild days and cooler nights suited to outdoor activities. The best time of year to visit Savannah is mid February to May and October to November, and those windows also line up with the busiest booking periods at private RV parks near Savannah. Reserve four to eight weeks ahead for weekends in these shoulder seasons. Summers are hot and humid with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Coastal Georgia sits inside the Atlantic hurricane basin, and peak tropical activity runs from August through October, so travelers should monitor National Hurricane Center advisories and be aware that some coastal parks may close on short notice for evacuations. Winters are generally mild but can bring cooler evenings. Freezing temperatures happen sporadically at night in Savannah from November until March, and Savannah typically has 21 frosty nights a year, so winter RV travelers should carry a heated hose or plan to disconnect water on the coldest nights.

Big-rig access is generally good at the named private parks, and pull-through sites with 50 amp service are common. Bugs are a factor most of the year.
