Campgrounds and RV parks near Everett, MA

Everett sits just north of Boston along the Mystic River, which puts campers within a short drive of two very different camping worlds. To the south lie the Boston Harbor Islands, a cluster of drumlins and shoreline reached only by ferry or private boat, with rustic tent sites and yurts on Peddocks Island. To the north, Harold Parker State Forest Lorraine Park offers a full drive-in campground with limited RV hookups and showers, roughly 20 miles from the city. RV renters should note an important constraint: no vehicles are permitted on the harbor islands themselves, though free parking is available at Hingham Shipyard for camper check-in. That makes the harbor islands a tent-and-yurt experience for RV travellers, with the rig staying at Hingham or at the mainland campground. Harold Parker State Forest Lorraine Park sits within over 3,000 acres of hardwood, hemlock and white pine forest and has 89 to 91 sites, making it the most practical RV base within an hour of Everett. Both systems are managed by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation and book through ReserveAmerica.

Both destinations reserve through the Massachusetts DCR portal on ReserveAmerica. Reservations can be made up to 4 months prior to the arrival date, and any reservation with departure dates outside the 4-month maximum window cannot be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made. Walk-in registrations are not permitted, though advance reservations can be made same day up until 2 pm on the date of arrival. For Boston Harbor Islands - Peddocks Island, ferry seats book separately through the Peddocks Island ferry operator at Hingham Shipyard and fill quickly. Campers are strongly encouraged to book ferry passage immediately after making their camping reservation. Boston Harbor Islands - Thompson Island is not a standard public campground; overnight stays are limited to Outward Bound programs and private events.
