Campgrounds and RV parks near Hopkinton, MA

Hopkinton State Park anchors day-use recreation in the area. The park offers 2 seasonally life-guarded swimming beaches, 10 miles of trails, the historic earthen dam, acres of grassy fields, and on-site boat rentals. Kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards are available for rent, and fishing is permitted in the Hopkinton Reservoir, with largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and panfish common catches. History day trips are close at hand. Minute Man National Historical Park, Walden Pond, and the Old North Bridge sit within an hour, and Boston itself is reachable for a full-day visit. Sports fans can catch events near Gillette Stadium in Foxboro. Family-oriented campgrounds add on-site activities: outdoor pools, splash pad, stocked fishing pond, 18 hole disk golf course, pickleball, bocce, and nature trails keep kids occupied on rainy afternoons or slow days between excursions.

Central Massachusetts follows a classic New England camping calendar. Most private campgrounds open in April and close in mid-November. Normandy Farms operates from April 1 through November 15, while Circle CG in Bellingham offers year-round camping with full hookup sites, one of the few options for winter RV stays in the area. Summer is peak season. Weekends around Fourth of July and August book out well in advance, and on summer weekends and some holidays, Hopkinton State Park may reach maximum day-use capacity and gates will be temporarily closed, with no vehicles or patrons on foot allowed entry until gates reopen. Pavilion guests must arrive by 11:00 AM to assure admittance, as the park reaches capacity typically prior to noon, so arriving before mid-morning is essential on hot weekends. Fall brings peak foliage from late September through mid-October, transforming the reservoir shoreline and wooded trails, and nearby orchards enter harvest. Spring shoulder season offers cooler nights and quieter campgrounds, though April can be wet and some seasonal amenities like pools have not yet opened. Winter camping is limited to the few year-round parks, with snow common from December through March.

Expect wooded, New England-style campgrounds rather than open desert-style RV parks. Site surfaces are typically dirt or gravel with mature tree cover, and interior roads at older campgrounds can be tight for larger rigs. Circle CG accommodates big rigs up to 40 feet though navigation can be somewhat tight, with gravel and grass sites that are decently sized and mostly full hookup. Renters bringing a Class A or long fifth wheel should confirm site dimensions when booking. Hookups vary by property. Full hookups with 30/50-amp service, water, sewer, and cable are standard at Circle CG, and Normandy Farms pull-through sites are complete with water, electric, sewer, cable, and WiFi. At Spacious Skies Minute Man, confirm full-service sites at booking rather than assuming. Amenities at family-focused parks include pools, playgrounds, camp stores, laundry, and dog areas. Cell coverage is generally strong across MetroWest, and Wi-Fi is offered at most parks.
