Campgrounds and RV parks near Milford, MA

Water recreation drives most trips. Sutton Falls offers swimming beaches, a fishing pond, and launch access to Aldrich Mill Pond and the adjacent Lake Manchaug, with boating, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and birdwatching. Purgatory Chasm State Reservation, a short drive from the Manchaug area, delivers dramatic rock scrambles and marked hiking trails suitable for kids old enough to climb. For rainy days or bigger groups, resort-style parks fill the gap. Normandy Farms features a heated indoor pool, three outdoor pools, three Jacuzzis, a splash pad, an 18-hole disc golf course, pickleball, tennis, basketball, and a stocked fishing pond. The resort sits five miles from Gillette Stadium and provides access to nearby train stations for Boston trips, and Foxboro State Park's 20-mile trail system lies about a mile away. Wrentham outlets, Patriot Place, and the Blackstone River bike path round out easy day trips.

The camping season in this part of Massachusetts is compressed. Most private parks open in April and close by late October or mid-November, so trip planning revolves around a roughly seven-month window. Sutton Falls Camping Area operates seasonally from mid-April through October, while Normandy Farms runs from April 1 to November 15. Circle CG Farm is one of the few sites in the area that stays open year round, useful for shoulder-season or winter travelers with self-contained rigs. Summer is peak. July and August book out earliest, especially weekends around Gillette Stadium events, and holiday weekends like Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day fill months in advance. Late spring and early fall trade heat and crowds for cooler nights and better site availability. Fall foliage in central Massachusetts typically peaks in mid to late October, overlapping with many parks' closing weekends. Winter brings heavy snow: Worcester County receives an average of 57.1 inches of snowfall per year according to NOAA climate normals, and most water systems are shut down well before that.

Expect wooded, private sites at most parks in this area. Sites at Normandy Farms include water, electric, sewer, cable, and WiFi, and similar full-hookup service is common at the other private parks. Cell coverage is generally reliable near Milford, Bellingham, and Foxboro, but can be spotty in the Sutton and Douglas woodlands to the west. Firewood rules are strict. Because of the continuing problem with the Asian Longhorned Beetle, outside firewood is not allowed to be brought into Sutton Falls, and similar restrictions apply across central Massachusetts. Plan to buy bundled wood on-site. Families should expect active, amenity-heavy resorts at the larger parks and quieter, lake-focused stays at the smaller ones. Pets are widely welcomed but usually require leashes and proof of vaccination.
