Campgrounds and RV parks near Needham, MA

Needham sits about 15 miles southwest of downtown Boston in Norfolk County, putting RV travelers within a short drive of both the city and the wooded campgrounds of southeastern Massachusetts. The town itself is residential and does not host an RV park, so renters typically base out of full-service campgrounds in nearby Foxboro, Mansfield, and Bellingham, then use commuter rail or I-95 for day trips into Boston. The closest full-hookup option is Normandy Farms Campground in Foxboro, a large resort-style park popular with families. Canoe River Campground in Mansfield and Circle CG Farm Campground in Bellingham offer additional inland options with hookups and seasonal amenities. For a completely different experience, the Boston Harbor Islands are accessible only by boat or ferry, and on the islands there are composting toilets only, no showers, no supplies, and access to fresh water is only available on Peddocks Island, which offers tent and yurt camping while Thompson Island runs day-use programming. Most RV travelers combine one of the inland resorts with day trips to Boston, Cape Cod, or Providence, all within roughly an hour's drive of Needham.

Private campgrounds like Normandy Farms Campground, Canoe River Campground, and Circle CG Farm Campground take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Summer weekends, especially around July 4 and Labor Day, sell out well in advance, so booking two to four months ahead is standard for full-hookup RV sites. Camping on Peddocks Island is handled through the state system. Reserve either a campsite or a yurt with Reserve America, and book a roundtrip ferry from Hingham to Peddocks Island when making the reservation to ensure transportation. Reservations can be made four months in advance of check-in. Thompson Island is generally a day-use and program destination operated by Thompson Island Outward Bound rather than a drop-in campground.
