Campgrounds and RV parks near Janesville, MN

Janesville sits in Waseca County in south-central Minnesota, roughly midway between Mankato and Owatonna along U.S. Highway 14. The surrounding region is lake country, with dozens of small kettle lakes and the Cannon River corridor stretching east toward Faribault, giving RV travelers a compact area with a mix of state park and private-resort camping. The closest state-run option is Sakatah Lake State Park, an 842-acre state park on a natural widening of the Cannon River near Waterville. RVs up to 55 feet can camp at Sakatah Lake State Park Campground, and fourteen of the campsites have electric hookups. Private resorts fill in the full-hookup gap: Kamp Dels and Kiesler's Campground and RV Resort both cater to families with pools and organized activities. Additional options in the wider area include Sakatah Trail Campground along the state trail and Camp Maiden Rock West, giving travelers a range of hookup levels within a short drive of Janesville.

Sakatah Lake State Park uses the Minnesota DNR reservation system. Reservations can be made the same day as arrival, and up to 120 days before the arrival date. Reservations are in high demand for weekends, campsites with electric hookups and at the most popular parks; campers can reserve sites online at mndnr.gov/reservations or by phone at 866-857-2757. Overnight guests need a state park vehicle permit in addition to a camping or lodging reservation. There is no cancellation fee for reservations canceled 14 or more days prior to the scheduled arrival, which gives some flexibility for plan changes. Private campgrounds book directly. Kamp Dels, Kiesler's Campground and RV Resort and Sakatah Trail Campground all take reservations through their own websites or associated booking platforms, and holiday weekends at the family resorts often sell out months ahead.
