Campgrounds and RV parks near Loretto, MN

Loretto is a small city in Hennepin County, roughly 25 miles northwest of downtown Minneapolis. Its location puts RV travelers within an hour of the Twin Cities metro, Lake Minnetonka, and the Mississippi River corridor, while keeping them in a quieter rural setting of farmland, wetlands, and county parks. The area works well as a base for exploring both the western suburbs and rural Wright County. RV options in the area range from full-service commercial parks to state-park campgrounds. Twin Cities climate normals are calculated as 30-year averages using data gathered at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, currently covering 1991 through 2020, which gives a reliable picture of what to expect on the road. Closer campgrounds near Loretto include Minneapolis Northwest KOA Journey, while Minneapolis Southwest KOA Holiday, Dakotah Meadows RV Park, and Town and Country Campground and RV Park sit on the south and east sides of the metro. For travelers who want a more natural setting, Equestrian - Minnesota Valley State Park offers a public-land option along the Minnesota River, managed by the state park system.

Private parks such as Minneapolis Northwest KOA Journey, Minneapolis Southwest KOA Holiday, and Town and Country Campground and RV Park take reservations directly through their own websites or the KOA booking system. Summer weekends, especially around Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day, fill early, and booking two to three months out is recommended. Dakotah Meadows RV Park is operated by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community and books through its own reservation line and website. Equestrian - Minnesota Valley State Park is reserved through the Minnesota DNR's ReserveMN system, which opens a 120-day rolling booking window and requires a valid state park vehicle permit for entry. Most sites accept credit cards online and hold reservations with a deposit.
