Campgrounds and RV parks near Maple Plain, MN

Maple Plain sits in the western Twin Cities metro of Hennepin County, roughly 25 miles west of downtown Minneapolis. The location gives RV travelers quick access to Lake Minnetonka, the Luce Line State Trail, and a ring of regional parks and reserves managed by Three Rivers Park District, while keeping interstate corridors and grocery stops within a short drive. Most RV parks in this area cluster along the metro's suburban edges rather than in the town itself. Minneapolis Northwest KOA Journey and Minneapolis Southwest KOA Holiday sit within easy reach on either side of the Twin Cities and offer full hookups, and Town and Country Campground and RV Park provides another private option on the south side of the metro. Travelers heading further south toward the Minnesota River Valley can also stage at Dakotah Meadows RV Park or the Equestrian campground at Minnesota Valley State Park. The area works well as a base for families combining city attractions with lake time, trail riding, and short day trips into rural Wright and Carver counties.

Private parks in the Twin Cities metro, including Minneapolis Northwest KOA Journey, Minneapolis Southwest KOA Holiday, Town and Country Campground and RV Park, and Dakotah Meadows RV Park, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Summer weekends, holidays, and event dates tied to the Minnesota State Fair or Vikings home games fill first, so booking two to three months out is prudent. Minnesota state park and recreation area sites, including the Equestrian campground at Minnesota Valley State Park, are fully reservable and can be booked up to 120 days before the arrival date. Reservations go through the Minnesota DNR reservation system or by phone at 866-857-2757. Overnight guests also need a state park vehicle permit in addition to the camping reservation.
