Campgrounds and RV parks near Norwood Young America, MN

Norwood Young America sits in Carver County, roughly 40 miles west of Minneapolis, placing RV travelers within easy reach of the Minnesota River Valley, chains of prairie lakes, and the western Twin Cities metro. The town works well as a base for families who want quiet rural surroundings during the day and access to metro attractions within an hour's drive. Options range from state park equestrian and rustic sites to full-hookup private resorts. Nearby choices include the Equestrian campground at Minnesota Valley State Park and Minneapolis Southwest KOA Holiday, along with other private campgrounds in the surrounding Minnesota River corridor. Peaceful Valley Campsites, Codgers Cover RV Resort, and Cokato Lake RV Resort round out the choices for renters who want longer stays with hookups. Most campgrounds here follow a warm-season schedule tied to Minnesota's short frost-free window, so trip planning revolves around the May through October calendar.

State park sites, including the Equestrian campground at Minnesota Valley State Park, are booked through the Minnesota DNR reservation system. Reservations can be made the same day as arrival, and up to 120 days before the arrival date. Online reservations can be made 24 hours a day, except for the first day a reservation becomes available. On that first day, reservations cannot be made before 8 a.m. Phone reservations can be made by calling 866-857-2757, with call center hours April through September, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. A camping reservation does not replace a vehicle permit: all vehicles entering a state park or recreation area must display a Minnesota state park vehicle permit. Private resorts such as Peaceful Valley Campsites, Codgers Cover RV Resort, Minneapolis Southwest KOA Holiday, and Cokato Lake RV Resort each run their own booking systems, and summer weekends often sell out well before the season starts.
