Campgrounds and RV parks near St. Clair, MN

St. Clair sits in Blue Earth County in south-central Minnesota, within easy reach of the Minnesota River Valley and the lake country around Waterville. The area suits RV travelers who want a quiet base with room to fan out to state parks, paved rail-trails, and small-town main streets. Mankato, roughly a fifteen-minute drive west, provides groceries, propane, dump stations, and RV service. Camping options range from full-service private resorts to wooded state park loops. Kamp Dels and Shady Oaks Campground offer amenities geared to families, while Sakatah Lake State Park and Minneopa State Park deliver a more traditional public-lands experience with wildlife and hiking. Sakatah Trail Campground gives cyclists and rail-trail users direct access to the Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail. Most sites lie within a thirty-minute drive of St. Clair, which keeps day trips short and fuel stops predictable. Larger rigs can be accommodated at Minneopa, while Sakatah Lake State Park handles RVs up to about 55 feet, though internal roads at the state parks are narrower than at private resorts.

Minnesota state park sites are handled through the Minnesota DNR reservation system. Reservations can be made up to 120 days in advance, online 24 hours a day, or by phone at 866-857-2757 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily April through September. A vehicle permit, either daily or annual, is required on top of the campsite fee. Private campgrounds book directly through their own websites and platforms like Campspot. Kamp Dels summer weekends, particularly holidays, tend to sell out months ahead for lakeside and full-hookup sites. For the state parks, booking on the release day at the 120-day mark is the reliable path for July and August weekends. Midweek arrivals and shoulder-season dates typically show much better availability.
