Campgrounds and RV parks near Louisville, NE

The Platte River corridor is the main draw. Paddling, fishing, and shoreline hiking are available at Platte River State Park, and the trail networks connect wooded bluffs with river overlooks. The campground sits near the Platte River with access to hiking trails that wind through wooded areas and along rocky creek beds, mountain biking trails crisscross the property, a small waterfall marks a popular hiking destination, and two observation towers provide elevated views of the river and surrounding farmland. At Eugene T. Mahoney State Park, visitors can fish in Baright and CenturyLink Lakes, enjoy paddle boating, or play a round of mini golf, disc golf, or traditional golf at the nearby driving range. The Activity Center offers indoor recreation year-round, including a large indoor playground and a 42-foot climbing wall, and winter months bring ice skating, sledding, ice fishing, and cross-country skiing.

Peak camping season runs from late spring through early fall, when eastern Nebraska sees hot, humid days and frequent afternoon thunderstorms. State park loops at Mahoney and Platte River fill quickly on summer weekends, and holiday windows around Independence Day and Labor Day book out weeks in advance. Reserving early is essential during this window. Spring and fall are the most comfortable stretches for RV travel. Spring brings green-up along the Platte and higher river flows, and the greatest amount of precipitation occurs in May, so lower-lying campsites can be muddy after storms. Fall delivers cooler nights, thinner crowds, and colorful hardwoods along the river bluffs into late October. Winter camping is possible at year-round parks. Located midway between Nebraska's two largest cities, Lincoln and Omaha, this modern state park is the perfect year-round destination for a family escape. However, most modern facilities such as full-hookup service, showers, modern restrooms, dump and fill stations will typically be closed from mid-October through mid-April depending on weather.

Sites at the Lakeside and Little Creek loops in Eugene T. Mahoney State Park are modern and well maintained. The park features a wide array of amenities, including the Peter Kiewit Lodge, 60 cabins, and 148 campsites, ranging from full hookups to electric-only sites. Campers will find two modern campgrounds, Lakeside and Little Creek, both offering convenient access to water, showers, and restrooms. Sites are relatively close together, and you can hear the background drone of the Interstate highway in parts of the park. Platte River State Park is more wooded and quieter. Campers will enjoy the state-of-the-art campground with 48 Full Hookup campsites, and all campsites are full service 50-amp sites that are 20 feet wide and at least 50 feet long. West Omaha / NE Lincoln KOA Holiday and Ashland RV Campground offer standard private-park amenities including full hookups, dump stations, showers, laundry, and easy interstate access.
