Campgrounds near Dansville, New York
Dansville sits in the rolling hills of western New York at the southern edge of the Finger Lakes region, with Livingston and Steuben County campgrounds within easy reach of I-390. The closest public option is Stony Brook State Park, located about two miles south of Dansville in Steuben County, reached via I-390 South to exit 4 then Route 36 South. The park's terrain combines hilly woodlands with a deep gorge, three waterfalls, and rock formations, and tent and trailer sites sit in the woodlands above the gorge at the south end of the park.
Private campgrounds fill out the area. Sugar Creek Glen Campground spans 90 acres of wooded and open sites with 30/50 amp water and electric hookups, rustic and electric tent sites, cabins, a rec hall, and a playground. Skybrook Campground, Sun Valley Campsites, and Holiday Hill Campground round out the nearby private options for RV renters who want hookups, family amenities, or a base for exploring nearby Letchworth State Park.
Things to do near Dansville
Hiking the gorge is the headline activity at Stony Brook State Park. Visitors can hike rim, gorge, or nature trails, play tennis on park courts, picnic, or swim in the park's stream-fed guarded swimming pool, and in winter, three miles of cross-country trails are available for skiers. Sugar Creek Glen Campground sits on a creek with on-property waterfalls, swimming holes, and trout fishing, plus a camp store and recreation hall for families.
Letchworth State Park, often called the Grand Canyon of the East, is a short drive west and offers waterfalls, the Genesee River gorge, and dozens of miles of multiuse trails that wind through the park and vary in distance and difficulty. Wineries, farm markets, and the village of Naples are within an hour for a half-day side trip.

Camping in the Dansville area is a warm-season activity. Most public and private campgrounds open in spring and close in mid-fall: Sugar Creek Glen Campground typically operates from late April through Columbus/Indigenous Peoples Day, and other Finger Lakes private parks follow a similar window. State park campgrounds in the region, including Stony Brook, run roughly May through October.
Summer is peak season. Weekends fill quickly at Stony Brook State Park and at Letchworth, and reservations for July, August, and holiday weekends are strongly recommended well in advance. Early summer brings full waterfalls and warm swimming weather; late summer and early fall bring cooler nights and lower humidity. Fall foliage in late September and October draws weekend crowds to the gorges and is one of the best times for hiking. Winter closes most campgrounds, though Stony Brook keeps cross-country ski trails open. Spring shoulder season can be wet, with muddy trails and cold nights into May.

How to book a campsite near Dansville
New York State Park campgrounds, including Stony Brook and Letchworth, use the state's central reservation system. Reservations can be made online or through the ReserveAmerica Call Center at 1-800-456-2267, and walk-ins are permitted on campsites only. Reservations must be made at least one day ahead of arrival and can be booked up to nine months in advance, with a one-night minimum stay. Same-day reservations are allowed until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival for campsites.
Private campgrounds like Sugar Creek Glen Campground, Skybrook Campground, Sun Valley Campsites, and Holiday Hill Campground book directly through their own websites or by phone. For summer weekends and fall foliage dates, book several months out. RV renters should confirm site length limits and hookup type at the time of booking.
What to expect at Dansville campgrounds
Expect wooded, hilly sites with a mix of shade and sun. Stony Brook is a developed state park campground with restrooms and showers, but there are no electric sites or cabins with electric at this campground, and generator hours are 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted, visitors must pay a vehicle use fee and leave the park by 10 p.m., and current proof of rabies inoculation is required at check-in for pets.
Private parks generally offer fuller RV services. Sugar Creek Glen has water and electric sites with 30/50 amp hookups, the maximum camper length is 38 feet, and rustic and electric tent sites and cabins are also available. Cell coverage is reliable in the village but spotty in the gorges.

Booking your RV rental in Dansville is low-risk because RVezy applies a standard cancellation policy to every reservation, including a grace period right after booking when you can cancel for a full refund. After the grace period, the refund you receive depends on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date. Cancellation terms are set by RVezy, not individual hosts, so the process is consistent no matter which listing you choose. Pro tip: book early for peak Letchworth fall foliage weekends in October, knowing the grace period gives you flexibility if your plans shift right after you reserve.

Yes, RV delivery Dansville is one of the most popular ways to start a trip here, especially for first-timers. With 24/7 roadside assistance backing every trip, even unexpected hiccups have a clear next step. Pro tip: choose a smaller Class C motorhome or travel trailer for your first Finger Lakes outing, they're easier to maneuver on the country roads around Dansville.

Pro tip: UR Medicine Noyes Health hospital is right in Dansville and cell coverage is reliable along I-390, though service can get patchy deep inside Letchworth State Park near the Middle and Upper Falls, so plan calls accordingly.

Travel into Canada (Niagara Falls is just 90 miles away) may be allowed depending on the host and the protection plan you select, so message the owner before booking to confirm cross-border permission and bring your passport. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Pro tip: popular RV road trip routes from Dansville include the full Finger Lakes wine loop, Niagara Falls and back, and a Pennsylvania Wilds detour through the PA Grand Canyon at Pine Creek Gorge.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a Dansville RV trip?
Fuel is easy to budget for around Dansville thanks to plentiful, competitively priced stations along I-390. Most Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class B campervans around 15 to 20 MPG, and towable trailers depend on your tow vehicle. New York gas prices typically run a bit above the national average, so plan for that on longer loops. For a 3-day trip with about 300 miles of driving (Dansville to Letchworth, Watkins Glen, and back), expect to spend roughly $100 to $180 on fuel in a Class C. Pro tip: the Pilot Travel Center at Avoca off I-390 Exit 2, about 20 minutes south, often has the area's best diesel prices and easy RV access.

parks.ny.gov/parks/letchworthHow do payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is straightforward and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card, with no cash or off-platform transactions. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment and is released back to you after dropoff, assuming the RV is returned in the agreed condition with the agreed mileage and generator hours. Deposit amounts vary by RV type and value, and you'll see the exact figure clearly on the listing before you book your RV rental in Dansville, NY. Pro tip: take dated photos and a quick walk-around video at both pickup and dropoff, it's the easiest way to avoid any deposit disputes and start your Finger Lakes adventure with total confidence.
