Great weekend getaway!

Kami A. - Nov 2024

Great vehicle and friendly owners. This compact camper has a lot of creature comforts while allowing one to maneuver and park in regular parking lots. The van is really easy to drive and handles really nice. The beds were comfortable and IMO accommodate 2 adults (top bed) and 1 adult or 2 kids in the lower bed. We were able to use the bike rack, too, and that worked great for a road bike and mountain bike (I think 2 mountain bikes might not fit unless the handle bars were turned on 1 of them). We didn't use the, generator, heater, hot water, shower, sink, microwave or toilet so I can't comment on them but I wish we rented it longer so we could've taken advantage of all this van has to offer. We would absolutely rent again.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Emmaus, PA

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Emmaus, PA?

RV rental in Emmaus, PA is one of the more affordable ways to explore the Lehigh Valley and beyond. Travel trailers typically start around $75 to $125 per night, campervans run about $125 to $200, and larger Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $325 per night depending on age, size, and amenities. For a cheap RV rental in Emmaus, book midweek, target shoulder months like late April or October, and filter for travel trailers with delivery included so you skip towing fees. Pro tip: many local hosts offer weekly discounts of 10 to 20 percent, which is huge if you're combining a Pocono Mountains trip with a Jersey Shore beach run.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Emmaus, Pennsylvania?

Good news: for virtually every RV you will rent in Emmaus, your regular driver's license is all you need. Pennsylvania only requires a non-commercial Class B license for single vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating over 26,000 pounds, which is heavier than nearly every campervan, Class C motorhome, or travel trailer on RVezy. You will need to be at least 25 years old with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID during booking. Visiting from another country? An International Driving Permit paired with your home license works. Most first-time renters in the Lehigh Valley are surprised how simple the process is.

What protection is included when I rent an RV in Emmaus?

Every booking on RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance included, so you can focus on your Lehigh Valley adventure. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV, and you choose your coverage level during checkout, not the host, so you can match the peace of mind to your trip. Roadside help is one call away whether you need a tow off Route 309, a tire change in the Poconos, or a battery boost at a campground. Book your RV rental in Emmaus with confidence knowing the safety net is already in place.

What if I need to cancel my Emmaus RV rental?

You are not locked in the moment you book. RVezy offers a clear cancellation policy with a grace period right after booking, giving you time to finalize plans. Cancellations are handled by RVezy directly, not by individual hosts, which means consistent rules across every listing in Emmaus and the Lehigh Valley. Refund amounts depend on how far in advance you cancel, and special situations like severe weather or natural disasters are reviewed by RVezy support. Pro tip: book early to lock in your dates and dream RV, knowing the flexibility is built into the platform.

Can I bring my dog on an RV trip from Emmaus?

Absolutely, and the Lehigh Valley is a fantastic region for four-legged co-pilots. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to find a pet-friendly RV rental in Emmaus in seconds. Once you're rolling, Pennsylvania state parks like Hickory Run and Locust Lake welcome leashed dogs on most trails and campsites. Locally, the South Mountain Preserve right in Emmaus has dog-friendly hiking, and Bear Creek Mountain Resort area trails are great for a stretch break. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees (usually $25 to $75 per trip) and ask about features like easy-clean flooring or a fenced outdoor mat. Your pup will thank you.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway in Emmaus?

Yes, RV delivery in Emmaus is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you are new to RVing. Many hosts will drop the RV at your driveway or a nearby campground or Pocono destination, then handle the full setup: leveling the rig, connecting hookups, and walking you through every system. Use the Delivery filter when searching, then message the host with your destination address to confirm distance and fees (typically $2 to $5 per mile round trip). This is the smart move for first time renting an RV: skip the stress of driving a large vehicle and step into a fully ready camper.

How far can I travel on an RV road trip from Emmaus?

You can roam as far as you want. Each host sets a daily mileage allowance, typically 100 to 150 miles per day, and many offer unlimited mileage packages or generous add-on miles for around $0.30 to $0.50 per extra mile. From Emmaus you're perfectly positioned: Jim Thorpe and the Lehigh Gorge are about 35 miles north, Hickory Run State Park is 40 miles, Hershey is 70 miles, the Jersey Shore (Long Beach Island) is about 110 miles, and Washington D.C. is roughly 200 miles. Pro tip: if you're planning a longer RV road trip from Emmaus toward the Finger Lakes or Niagara Falls, look for listings labeled with unlimited mileage to keep your budget predictable.

You have excellent options within an hour's drive. Hickory Run State Park in Carbon County (about 40 miles north) offers 381 wooded sites and the famous Boulder Field. Beltzville State Park has lakeside camping, swimming, and is roughly 35 miles away. Jellystone Park at Hidden Lake in Quakertown is a 25-minute drive south and is huge with kids thanks to its pool complex. Sun Outdoors Gettysburg and Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph are popular bigger-resort picks within a couple hours. For RV camping Emmaus locals love, KOA Lehighton Pocono Mountains is around 35 miles north with full hookups. Pro tip: book Pennsylvania state parks at PA.gov up to 11 months ahead for summer weekends.

When is the best time to take an RV trip from Emmaus?

Late April through October is the sweet spot for RV camping Emmaus travelers love, but each season has its charm. Spring (April to May) brings 55 to 70 degree days and waterfalls running full at Glen Onoko and Bushkill Falls. Summer (June to August) averages 80 to 87 degrees with warm lake swimming at Beltzville, though July weekends book up fast. Fall (mid-September through late October) is the local insider favorite: foliage in the Poconos peaks around the second week of October, temperatures are perfect 50 to 70 degrees, and campgrounds quiet down. Winter rentals are available from select hosts with heated, four-season rigs for snow trips to Blue Mountain Resort.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving in the Lehigh Valley?

You're going to do great. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup that covers driving feel, leveling, hookups, holding tanks, and the propane system, so nothing is a mystery before you pull away. The Lehigh Valley is one of the friendlier regions in the Northeast for first-timers: wide highways like Interstate 78 and US Route 222 offer easy lane changes, and you're not dealing with dense urban traffic like Philly or NYC. If you're nervous, ask about delivery and skip the driving entirely for your first trip. Pro tip: do your first overnight at a close-to-home campground like Jellystone Quakertown to build confidence before pushing into the Poconos.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Safety/Pages/default.aspx

What happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?

You are never stranded. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so help is one phone call away whether you are on the shoulder of Interstate 78, near the Lehigh Tunnel on the Northeast Extension, or at a campsite in the Poconos. The service covers tows, flat tires, jump starts, lockouts, and out-of-fuel rescues. Your host is also a text away for questions about quirks of their specific rig, and RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: snap a photo of the roadside assistance number and VIN at pickup so you have everything ready if you ever need it.

Can I take an RV rental from Emmaus across state lines or into Canada?

Yes, interstate travel is one of the best parts of basing your RV rental in Emmaus. You are a short drive from New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Delaware, and West Virginia, and RVezy coverage applies throughout the United States. Travel into Canada may be allowed but requires explicit host approval since insurance and border documentation need to be confirmed in advance, so message the host before booking if Niagara, Montreal, or Quebec City is on your list. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Popular routes from Emmaus include the Outer Banks (about 8 hours), Acadia National Park (10 hours), and the Finger Lakes (about 4 hours).

How much should I budget for fuel on an Emmaus RV trip?

Fuel is easier to budget than most people think. Class B campervans get about 18 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A motorhomes hover around 7 to 10 MPG. A travel trailer towed by a half-ton truck typically returns 10 to 14 MPG. Pennsylvania gas prices typically run a bit above the national average due to state fuel tax, so expect around $3.50 to $3.80 per gallon, with diesel slightly higher. For a long weekend campervan rental Emmaus trip covering 300 miles, plan on roughly $50 to $75 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in New Jersey or Delaware on longer trips, where pump prices are usually lower than Pennsylvania's.

How far in advance should I book a campground for my Emmaus RV trip?

For Pennsylvania state parks like Hickory Run, Beltzville, and Locust Lake, book through the PA State Parks reservation system up to 11 months in advance. Summer weekends and any fall foliage weekend in October sell out the moment they open, so set a calendar reminder. Private campgrounds like KOA Lehighton, Jellystone Quakertown, and Sun Outdoors properties open reservations year-round and typically fill 2 to 4 months ahead for peak dates. For midweek summer trips, two to three weeks is usually enough. Pro tip: if you strike out on a Saturday night, grab a Sunday-through-Thursday slot instead. Pennsylvania campgrounds are noticeably quieter midweek, and you'll have your pick of waterfront sites.

What are the driving conditions like around Emmaus and the Lehigh Valley?

Driving an RV around Emmaus is genuinely manageable. Interstate 78 and US 222 are flat, modern, and RV-friendly with wide shoulders. Heading north into the Poconos, you'll climb gentle grades on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, with the Lehigh Tunnel being a notable but easy passage at 13 feet of clearance, plenty for any standard motorhome. Watch for narrow covered bridges in rural Bucks and Lehigh counties, and avoid downtown Bethlehem and Allentown during morning and evening rush hours. Winter brings occasional snow and ice from December through March. Pro tip: most local back roads have a 13'6" low-clearance bridge somewhere, so trust your GPS only if it's set to RV mode.

What amenities do local campgrounds near Emmaus offer?

Lehigh Valley and Pocono campgrounds are well equipped. Most private parks like KOA Lehighton and Jellystone Quakertown offer full hookups (water, 30 or 50 amp electric, and sewer) plus Wi-Fi, pools, and camp stores. Pennsylvania state parks like Hickory Run and Beltzville offer electric-only sites with shared water spigots, modern bathhouses, and centralized dump stations. You can dump tanks and refill fresh water at Hickory Run's dump station and at most Flying J truck stops along Interstate 78. Pro tip: if you're heading deep into the Poconos for boondocking, top off fresh water at the Promised Land State Park dump station, since potable water sources thin out the further north and east you go.

What features and amenities come standard in RVs rented around Emmaus?

Most motorhome rental Emmaus listings come ready for vacation. Expect a queen or king bed, full kitchen with a fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, indoor bathroom with toilet and shower, dining area, and air conditioning plus furnace heat. Many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, camp chairs, and a propane grill. Class C motorhomes sleep 4 to 8 with bunks and over-cab beds, and they all have seatbelts for travel. Generators or solar packages are common for off-grid camping in the Poconos. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps count and read the amenities list carefully. Hosts often include thoughtful extras like a Keurig, board games, or bikes that make the trip even better.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/WhatToDo/Camping/Pages/RVCamping.aspx

What add-ons and pickup options are popular for Emmaus RV rentals?

Hosts offer thoughtful add-ons that make life easier. Common picks include linen and bedding packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits with pots, dishes, and utensils ($25 to $50), outdoor camping bundles with chairs and a firepit setup, bike racks, generators for off-grid camping in state forests, and pet packages. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Emmaus, Macungie, Allentown, or Bethlehem, with a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough included. Delivery to your campground or driveway runs about $2 to $5 per mile round trip. Most hosts allow 100 to 150 miles per day with options to prepurchase more. Pro tip: bundle linens and the kitchen kit on your first rental so you can show up with just clothes and food.

How does payment and the security deposit work when I rent an RV in Emmaus?

Payment is handled entirely through RVezy, never directly with the host, which protects both sides. You pay your rental total at booking using a credit or debit card, and a refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup. The deposit is released after the trip ends and the host confirms there is no damage, usually within a few days. To avoid issues, do a full walkthrough video at pickup and dropoff, document any existing scratches, and return the RV with fuel, propane, and tanks at the agreed levels. Pro tip: treating the RV well also makes future bookings smoother with returning hosts.
