Campgrounds and RV parks near Galeville, NY

Galeville is a hamlet in the town of Salina, just northwest of downtown Syracuse in Onondaga County. For RV renters, it works as a practical base for exploring Central New York and the eastern edge of the Finger Lakes region, with campgrounds concentrated within a short drive in every direction. Green Lakes State Park, located just east of Syracuse, serves as the region's premier developed camping destination with tent sites, RV hookups, and cabin accommodations. The park's 137 campsites are spread across several loops including Rolling Hills and Pinewoods, with options ranging from basic tent sites to full-hookup RV spots accommodating rigs up to 60 feet, and the campground provides modern amenities including hot showers, flush restrooms, a dump station, and potable water throughout. Private options in the broader area include Pleasant Lake RV Park, Sunset Park Campground Inc., Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort, and Bass Lake Resort, which tend to lean family-oriented with pools, playgrounds, and organized activities. Together, the mix covers everything from quiet wooded state-park sites to full-service resort stays for renters towing or driving a rig.

Public campgrounds in New York run through a single reservation system. ReserveAmerica handles reservations for New York state park and DEC campgrounds; sites can be booked online or by calling 1-800-456-2267. The reservation window opens up to 9 months before the planned stay, so weekend dates at Green Lakes State Park should be booked as early as possible. A camping party and their equipment may occupy a site for a maximum of 14 continuous nights, after which the party must leave the facility for 48 hours before registering again. Same-day reservations are permitted only until 3pm, and walk-ins are allowed on campsites only. Private parks such as Pleasant Lake RV Park, Sunset Park Campground Inc., Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort, and Bass Lake Resort each use their own booking channels, typically through the campground website or phone.
