Campgrounds and RV parks near Heuvelton, NY

Heuvelton sits in St. Lawrence County in northern New York, along the Oswegatchie River and roughly fifteen minutes from Ogdensburg and the St. Lawrence River crossing to Canada. The area serves as a practical base for RV travelers exploring the Thousand Islands region, Black Lake, and the eastern edge of the Adirondack foothills. The closest state-run option is Eel Weir State Park, a small riverside park with 38 campsites on the Oswegatchie River, roughly two miles from Black Lake. Private options within a short drive include The Log Cabins, McLear's Cottage Colony and Campground, and North Country Cottages and Campgrounds. Travelers willing to cross into Ontario can reach the Cardinal / Ottawa South KOA Holiday in about an hour, which adds a full-service RV resort with hookups and family amenities to the shortlist. Because Heuvelton is rural, most campgrounds are compact and quiet, with fishing, paddling, and river access as the main draws rather than large resort infrastructure.

Reservations at Eel Weir State Park go through the New York State Parks system on ReserveAmerica. Sites can be booked up to 9 months in advance, and the maximum stay is 14 continuous nights before a required 48-hour break. One-night stays are only bookable within 3 days of arrival, either online or through the ReserveAmerica call center. The Cardinal / Ottawa South KOA Holiday takes bookings directly through the KOA website or by phone. It offers back-in and pull-through RV sites, tent sites, and deluxe cabins and lodges, with 30 and 50-amp service across the site mix. For smaller private options like The Log Cabins, McLear's Cottage Colony and Campground, and North Country Cottages and Campgrounds, contact the operator directly to confirm RV site length, hookups, and availability, since inventory is limited and not consistently listed on major portals.
