Campgrounds and RV parks near Holley, NY

The Erie Canalway Trail runs directly through Holley, making cycling and walking the towpath the signature activity. Canal Park offers a boardwalk, playground, gazebo, and short nature trails, and docking facilities include water, electric service, and a comfort station with showers. Holley Falls, a cascade of red Medina sandstone reached by short trails from Canal Park, is a popular local hike. On Lake Ontario, Hamlin Beach State Park adds a swimming beach, fishing for salmon and trout, car-top boat launching, and about six miles of hiking and biking trails. The Yanty Creek Marsh area at the east end of the park features a mile-long self-guided trail. Families staying at Adventure Bound Southwoods have two pools, mini golf, a bike track, and playgrounds on site, and Darien Lake amusement park is a short drive away, with Niagara Falls within easy reach.

Camping around Holley is a warm-weather activity. Private resorts and the state park run roughly from mid-spring through mid-fall. Red Rock Ponds RV Resort typically operates from May 1 through October 15, and Adventure Bound Southwoods is open May through October. Hamlin Beach State Park follows a similar window, with its campground open from mid-May to early October. Summer is the busy season. The beach is the biggest draw at Hamlin Beach, and weekends around July 4, Labor Day, and themed weekends at private resorts fill first. Late spring and early fall bring cooler nights, fewer crowds, and good migratory bird activity. Waterfall viewing at Holley Falls depends on canal operations; when the canal is drained the falls stop flowing, and the canal typically runs from spring through mid-November. Winters are cold and snowy, with heavy lake-effect snow common along the Lake Ontario shore. Private resorts close for the season, while Hamlin Beach transitions to day use for hiking, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing.

Sites in and around Holley skew toward full-hookup RV parks with a strong seasonal-resident base. Red Rock Ponds has a large share of seasonal sites, with the remainder open to transient visitors. Expect level pads, grass patio areas, and quiet evenings. Big rigs and pull-throughs are available, along with 20/30/50 amp service, laundry, a dump station, and Wi-Fi. Hamlin Beach State Park is different: it is a large public campground with electric hookups and no full water and sewer sites. Occupancy is capped at six people and two vehicles per site, with two tents or one camper and one tent allowed. A dump station and shower buildings serve the loops, and water spigots are shared. Cell coverage varies. Bring leveling blocks, insect protection in early summer, and a bike if the Erie Canalway Trail is part of the plan.
