Campgrounds and RV parks near Mariaville Lake, NY

Mariaville Lake sits in western Schenectady County, roughly 20 miles west of Albany and just south of the Adirondack foothills. The hamlet centers on a shallow warm-water lake used for fishing and small-boat paddling, with Featherstonhaugh State Forest bordering its southern shore. The area works well as an RV base for exploring the Mohawk Valley, the Helderberg Escarpment, and the Capital District. Campground options within a short drive range from private RV parks with hookups to state-run tent and trailer sites. Frosty Acres Campgrounds and Mc Conchie Heritage Acres Camp Grounds sit closest to the lake itself, while Arrowhead Marina and RV Park anchors a riverfront position on the Mohawk in Glenville. Thompsons Lake - Thacher State Park adds a public option on the Helderberg plateau, and Locust Park Campground rounds out the nearby private choices. Most sites in this corridor are seasonal, opening in May and closing by mid-October. Winter camping is limited, and travelers planning shoulder-season trips should confirm loop status before arrival.

Thompsons Lake - Thacher State Park is reserved through the New York State Parks system on ReserveAmerica, with a nine-month rolling booking window. During peak season, sites become available at 8 a.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. on weekends. Same-day reservations are accepted online until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival, and walk-ins are allowed only on campsites, not cabins. Private campgrounds such as Frosty Acres Campgrounds, Arrowhead Marina and RV Park, Mc Conchie Heritage Acres Camp Grounds, and Locust Park Campground book directly through the operator by phone or website. Holiday weekends often carry two- or three-night minimums, so travelers should lock in Fourth of July and Labor Day stays early.
