Campgrounds and RV parks near Perry, NY

Letchworth State Park is the main draw. Campers use it as a base for the Gorge Trail, Middle and Upper Falls viewpoints, whitewater rafting on the Genesee, hot-air balloon rides, and the Humphrey Nature Center. The park also operates a swimming pool, with the 2026 season projected from late June through Labor Day. Outside the park, Silver Lake sits just west of Perry and offers boat launches, fishing for walleye and bass, and small beaches. Stony Brook State Park and Darien Lakes State Park are within an hour, adding gorge trails and a large amusement park option for families. In the village itself, Silver Lake Brewing Project, farm stands, and the Wyoming County Fairgrounds cover rainy-day fallbacks and evenings off-trail.

The main camping season runs from early May through late October. Parker's Hideaway at Letchworth, for example, is scheduled to run May 8 through November 29 in 2026, and most tent and trailer loops follow a similar spring-to-fall window. Peak season at Letchworth runs from late June through late August, and the fall foliage window in early to mid-October is also busy and requires the earliest reservations. Summer brings warm days, humid nights, and the park's pool season from late June to Labor Day. Thunderstorms are common in July and August but usually pass quickly. Spring is cooler and wetter, with high waterfall flow from snowmelt and fewer crowds. Biting flies pick up in late May and June. Fall delivers the region's peak color, generally in early October, with cold nights that drop toward freezing by late month. Winter closes the campgrounds, though the park itself stays open for snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. The main park road between the Castile and Perry entrances, and from the Perry Entrance to Gibsonville Road, closes seasonally for snowmobiling and vehicle safety. Off-season visitors should confirm which loops and facilities are operating before booking.

Tent and trailer campers at Letchworth check in at Camp Contact on the north end of the park, with the Mount Morris or Perry Gate as the recommended entry. Sites are forested and shaded, with electric hookups available on most loops. All sites have space for a tent and trailer or two tents and two cars, a picnic table and wood burning pit, a water spigot within 125 feet, restrooms with hot showers in each loop, and a sanitary dump station for trailers. There are no individual sewer hookups. Pets are limited to two per site and are only permitted in campsites in loops 100, 200, 700, and 800, and Cabin Area C. Private campgrounds in the area typically offer full hookups, longer pull-through pads, Wi-Fi, and camp stores. Cell coverage is uneven inside the gorge and improves once back on the plateau. Bring layers even in summer, as nights cool quickly at elevation.
