Campgrounds and RV parks near Taconic Shores, NY

Taconic Shores sits in Columbia County along the New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut tri-state line, with the Taconic and Berkshire ridges to the east and the Hudson Valley to the west. RV renters have a mix of state park campgrounds and private family resorts within a short drive, which makes the area workable for both first-time renters and families booking a full-week base. Lake Taghkanic State Park is one of the closest state-run options, located in the town of Gallatin off the Taconic State Parkway about 11 miles southeast of Hudson, with tent and trailer sites plus cabins and cottages. Rudd Pond Area of Taconic State Park sits farther south near Millerton and offers a smaller, more rustic setup on a 64-acre pond, with tent sites and platform sites that can accept small trailers. On the private side, Waubeeka Family Campground and Copake Camping Resort in Copake, along with Brook-n-Wood Family Campground in Elizaville, cater to larger RVs with full hookups, pools, and organized weekend activities. This mix lets renters choose between quiet state-park camping and full-service resort stays.

State parks and private resorts use different systems, so plan for two separate booking paths. Lake Taghkanic State Park and Rudd Pond Area of Taconic State Park both book through the New York State Parks ReserveAmerica system, online or by calling 1-800-456-2267. Campsites can be reserved up to 9 months in advance, same-day reservations are allowed until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival, and the reservation holder must be 18 or older with photo ID at check-in. Private campgrounds book directly. Waubeeka Family Campground, Copake Camping Resort, and Brook-n-Wood Family Campground all take reservations through their own websites or by phone, and each offers RV sites, cabins, and tent options. For summer weekends and holidays, book several months out at both state and private campgrounds.
