Campgrounds and RV parks near Warsaw, NY

The main draw is Letchworth State Park, often called the Grand Canyon of the East, with three major waterfalls, cliffs up to 600 feet, and a large multi-use trail network for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. The Genesee River through the gorge supports whitewater rafting, kayaking, and tubing in season. Inside the park, families can use the swimming pool, Humphrey Nature Center, and Mt. Morris Dam overlook. Outside the park, Silver Lake near Perry has fishing and boat launches, and the Finger Lakes wine trails are within day-trip range. In winter, the park supports snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, tubing, and sledding when conditions allow.

The main camping season in this part of New York runs roughly from mid-May through mid-October, matching state park operations. Letchworth State Park tent and trailer sites open in mid-May and close in mid-October, while cabin areas and Parker's Hideaway open earlier in May and stay open into late November. Private campgrounds near Warsaw generally follow a similar window, with most opening in April or May and closing by mid to late October. Summer is peak season. Weekends in July and August book heavily, especially at Letchworth. Same-day reservations at New York state park campgrounds are accepted only until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival during peak season. Spring brings high water and strong waterfall flow but cool nights and muddy trails. Fall is reliable for foliage, with color usually peaking in early to mid October. Winter access is limited: most campgrounds close, though Letchworth stays open for day use, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing when conditions allow. Lake-effect snow off Lake Erie and Lake Ontario can be heavy in this part of Wyoming County.

Roads into Warsaw and the Letchworth area are paved state highways, with Route 20A serving as the main east-west route through town. Approaches to the park from the Mt. Morris and Perry gates handle large rigs without trouble, but interior park roads are winding with grade and overlook traffic. Most sites at Letchworth State Park have electrical hookups, with potable water spigots, restrooms with showers, and a dump station in the campground area. Private campgrounds in the area typically offer 30- and 50-amp service, water and sewer at many sites, and amenities such as pools, playgrounds, and laundry. Cell coverage is uneven in the gorge and on back roads. Black bears are present in the region, so standard food-storage practices apply.
