Campgrounds and RV parks near Wayland, NY

Wayland sits in Steuben County at the southern edge of the Finger Lakes region, roughly 40 miles south of Rochester along I-390. The area is rural and hilly, with campgrounds clustered in the surrounding towns of Springwater and Dansville. Most local sites cater to RV travelers with water and electric hookups, family amenities, and access to state park hiking and swimming. Options range from private resort-style parks to a state park campground built around a gorge. Holiday Hill Campground and Tamarack Campgrounds, both in nearby Springwater, offer RV hookups, pools, and planned family activities. Stony Brook State Park, about two miles south of Dansville, is the closest public campground and centers on a stream-fed swimming pool and a gorge with three waterfalls. Stetson's Tumble Hill Campground and Skybrook Campground round out the private options within short driving distance. Wayland works well as a base for exploring Letchworth State Park, the western Finger Lakes wineries, and the Genesee River valley without long daily drives.

Stony Brook State Park uses the New York State Parks reservation system through ReserveAmerica. Campsites can be booked up to nine months in advance for a one-night minimum stay, and same-day reservations are allowed until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival. Walk-ins are permitted on campsites only. Reservations can also be made by phone through the ReserveAmerica call center at 1-800-456-2267. Private parks book directly. Holiday Hill Campground and Tamarack Campgrounds both take reservations through their own websites or by phone, and both offer overnight, weekly, and seasonal stays. Popular summer weekends and fall foliage weekends fill early, so booking several months out is recommended for creekside or full-hookup sites.
