Campgrounds and RV parks near Burlington, OH

Burlington sits along the Ohio River in Lawrence County, directly across from Huntington, West Virginia, and roughly a half-hour drive from the Kentucky border. That tri-state position makes it a practical base for RV travelers, with campgrounds in three states reachable within an hour. Most nearby sites cluster around reservoirs in the Appalachian foothills rather than on the river itself. The closest full-service public option is Beech Fork State Park, a large West Virginia park south of Huntington built around a Corps of Engineers lake. Yatesville Lake State Park lies to the southwest in eastern Kentucky, near Louisa. Private options within the ring include The Falls Campground, Creekside Cabins and RV Park, and the Ashland / Huntington West KOA Holiday, which serves travelers moving along the I-64 corridor. Terrain is hilly and wooded, and lake-adjacent sites are the norm. Expect winding secondary roads on the approach to state park campgrounds, and plan RV routing in advance rather than relying on default GPS directions.

Public campgrounds in the area use state reservation systems rather than direct park booking. Beech Fork State Park sites can be reserved online, by phone, or at the campground office through the West Virginia State Parks system. Reservable sites are concentrated in Old Orchard and Moxley Branch, while Four Coves and Lakeview include first-come, first-served sites as well. Yatesville Lake State Park uses the Kentucky State Parks reservation system, with bookings accepted up to 12 months in advance and required at least one day before arrival. Private options, including the Ashland / Huntington West KOA Holiday, Creekside Cabins and RV Park, and The Falls Campground, book directly through their own websites or, in the KOA's case, the KOA reservation platform. Book lakefront and holiday-weekend sites early.
