Campgrounds and RV parks near Blairsville, PA

Water-based recreation is the main draw. At Keystone State Park, a public boat launching ramp and mooring area sit on the north shore by the breast of the dam, and boating is limited to electric motors and non-powered craft. A sand beach is open from late May to mid-September, 8 a.m. to sunset, giving families a swim option through the summer. Anglers can fish year-round under Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission regulations, with catfish, panfish, muskellunge, largemouth bass, and yellow perch in the lake, plus trout stocked several times a year. Hiking on nine miles of trails, biking on approved routes, and wildlife watching round out warm-weather activities. In winter, ice fishing, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing are available when conditions allow.

The main camping season at the closest state park runs a defined window. About 100 tent and trailer sites are available from the first Friday in April to the third Sunday of October, and three camping cottages and two yurts in Lakeside Campground are available for reservations from mid-April to mid-October. Private campgrounds in the area often open slightly earlier and close later, but most shut down water service by early November. Summer weekends and holidays are the busiest stretch, when Pittsburgh-area families fill lakeside loops. Shoulder weeks in late April, May, and September tend to have better site availability and quieter loops. Winter access is limited but not eliminated. Shower facilities may not be available after October 1, and Keystone Lake is scheduled to be drawn down after Labor Day through the following mid-October for dredging work, which will affect boating and lake-view camping during that period. Trails, campground, and cabins remain open during the drawdown.

Facilities range from electric RV sites to primitive tent pads. At Lakeside - Keystone State Park, roughly 22 sites offer 20, 30, or 50-amp electric service, while primitive sites serve tent campers and those preferring simpler setups. Both Keystone campgrounds have a modern bathhouse, and a sanitary dump station is available on site. Expect a wooded, hilly landscape typical of the Laurel Highlands foothills. Cell service is unpredictable in and around many Pennsylvania State Parks, so it helps to download the park map before a visit. Quiet hours are enforced: noise or conduct that could interfere with the sleep of other persons is prohibited between 9 p.m. and 8 a.m., and alcoholic beverages are prohibited in state park campgrounds.
