Campgrounds near Brockway, Pennsylvania
Brockway sits in Jefferson County in the northwestern part of Pennsylvania's Wilds region, within easy reach of I-80 and a cluster of state parks, private RV resorts, and state forest land. The surrounding landscape is heavily wooded plateau country, with the Clarion River, Clear Creek, and the Little Toby corridor providing water access for paddling and fishing.
RV travelers have a range of options within about a 30-mile radius. DuBois / Treasure Lake KOA Holiday sits inside a private gated community with more than 130 campsites and over 20 deluxe cabins, including family cabins that sleep six to seven people. Campers Paradise Campground and Cabins near Sigel offers full-service RV pads, rustic tent sites, and cabins, plus glamping options in its Wild West Territory.
For state-park camping, Clear Creek State Park has 52 campsites, each with a picnic table and fire ring, and 41 of those sites have electric hookups. Simon B Elliott State Park offers a 25-site camping area with modern restrooms and a sanitary dump station, but no showers. Forest Ridge Campground in Marienville adds cabins and RV sites deeper into the Allegheny National Forest region.
Things to do around Brockway
The area is built around forests, rivers, and rail-trails. The Clarion River is popular for kayaking and fishing, with launch access at Clear Creek State Park. About 25 miles of hiking trails run through Clear Creek and into the surrounding state forest, leading to scenic overlooks and along the Clarion. A short drive north puts campers at Beartown Rocks, a cluster of house-sized boulders in Clear Creek State Forest with views of the valley below.
Families staying at Treasure Lake get community access to two PGA-rated golf courses and a white sand beach, along with seasonal on-property dining. The Elk Country Visitor Center in Benezette, a top elk-viewing location in the eastern United States, is within day-trip range. The Clarion-Little Toby Trail and Redbank Valley Trail offer gentle rail-trail riding close to Brockway.

The camping season here is short but well defined. The Simon B Elliott State Park campground is open from early May through October. Clear Creek State Park's campground, cabins, and yurts open the second Friday in April and close the third Friday in December. Private parks generally run from spring through late fall, with the Treasure Lake KOA family cabins closing for the season on November 1.
Summer is peak, and popular sites fill fast. Clear Creek reservations go quickly for weekends around Independence Day and Labor Day, and Treasure Lake KOA hosts a large Fourth of July celebration along with other seasonal events.
Shoulder seasons are quieter and often more scenic. Fall brings hardwood color across the plateau, and October weekends draw returning families to Clear Creek. In winter, Simon B Elliott State Park serves as a launching point for snowmobilers using Moshannon State Forest trails, though most drive-in RV camping in the area is closed by late December.
How to book campgrounds near Brockway
Pennsylvania state parks use a single reservation system. Campers can book online for day-use and overnight facilities or call 888-PA-PARKS (888-727-2757), 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Reservations must be made at least 3 days ahead of arrival and can be made up to 11 months in advance, so competitive dates at Clear Creek and Simon B Elliott open early.
Private campgrounds book directly. Treasure Lake KOA takes reservations through the KOA website and app, while Campers Paradise and Forest Ridge each handle bookings through their own sites or by phone. For summer weekends and holiday periods, plan several months out; midweek stays in May, September, and October are easier to secure on shorter notice.
What to expect around Brockway
Sites vary widely in hookup level. Treasure Lake KOA offers RV sites with 50/30 amp service, water, and sewer on deluxe back-in and patio sites, along with deluxe cabins. Clear Creek provides electric at most sites plus showers, flush toilets, and a sanitary dump station. Simon B Elliott has no electric or water hookups at campsites, though a sanitary dump station is available and potable water spigots are located near the restroom.
Expect a rustic, forested setting and uneven connectivity. Cell service can be spotty inside the state parks, so downloading maps before arriving is a good idea. Pennsylvania asks campers not to transport firewood over long distances to slow the spread of invasive insects such as the emerald ash borer, and to buy or gather firewood locally instead.
Black bears are active in the area, so food should be stored securely. Quiet hours and leash rules are enforced at both the state parks and the private resorts.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Brockway, PA
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Brockway, PA?

Travel trailers typically rent for $90 to $175 per night, Class C motorhomes run $200 to $300 per night, and larger Class A coaches range from $250 to $425 per night. Because Brockway sits in a smaller market than Pittsburgh or Philadelphia, you'll often find cheap RV rental Brockway options that big-city renters can only dream of. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Brockway,PennsylvaniaWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Brockway?
Great news for first-time renters: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Brockway, PA. Pennsylvania does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal RVs, even the bigger Class A motorhomes you'll see on listings. Approved drivers on RVezy are generally 25 or older, and your ID is verified through the platform during booking, so there's nothing extra to bring to pickup beyond your license. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home auto association before you fly in. That's it, you're cleared to explore the Pennsylvania Wilds.

You can book your RV rental Pennsylvania trip with confidence, because RVezy (not the individual host) sets the cancellation policy, and there is a grace period right after booking during which you can cancel for a full refund. After that window, your refund depends on how far out you cancel and whether unusual circumstances apply, which matters in the snowy Pennsylvania Wilds. Full details are on the RVezy Help Center so you can review before confirming. Pro tip: message the host first if your dates are flexible. Many will gladly shift a Brockway booking by a few days to dodge a forecasted storm.

The forested trails around Jefferson County are gorgeous but ticks are active April through October, so a quick check after each hike keeps everyone happy.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/CookForestStatePark/Pages/default.aspxCan the RV be delivered to my campground near Brockway?
Yes, RV delivery Brockway is one of the smartest ways to start your trip, especially if you've never towed a trailer before. Many hosts in Jefferson and Elk County will drive the RV to your campsite at Cook Forest State Park, Clear Creek State Park, or even Parker Dam, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through everything before they leave. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see which listings offer it and check the per-mile delivery fee on the listing page. Pro tip: delivery fees vary by host, so message before booking to confirm the rate and total cost to your chosen campground. For first-timers it's worth every penny.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/ClearCreekStatePark/Pages/default.aspxHow does mileage work, and how far can I drive from Brockway?
Hosts set their own mileage policy, and you'll see the daily allowance (commonly 100 to 150 free miles per day) right on the listing along with the per-mile fee for anything over. If you're planning a longer route, filter for RV rental with unlimited mileage or message the host to negotiate a bigger package. From Brockway, popular drives include Cook Forest State Park (about 25 miles), Punxsutawney and Gobbler's Knob (about 30 miles), the Kinzua Bridge Skywalk (about 65 miles), Presque Isle State Park on Lake Erie (about 125 miles), and Pittsburgh (about 110 miles). dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/CookForestStatePark/Pages/default.aspxWhen is the best time of year for a Brockway RV trip?
Late spring through mid-fall is prime time, with each season offering something special in the Pennsylvania Wilds. May and June bring 65 to 78°F days, wildflowers, and quiet trails. July and August are the warm peak (75 to 85°F) and ideal for swimming in the Clarion River. But the real local secret is late September through mid-October, when temperatures cool to 55 to 70°F and the hardwood forests around Brockway light up in red, orange, and gold. Bonus: this is also elk rut season at nearby Benezette, where you can hear bulls bugling. Winter rentals are possible for snowmobiling fans, just look for four-season RVs on the platform.
weather.gov/ctp/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving around Brockway?
Yes, first time renting an RV in Brockway is genuinely easy, and the host is your secret weapon. Every RVezy host gives a hands-on orientation at pickup: how to start the generator, dump tanks, level the rig, hook up shore power, and operate the awning. They'll answer texts during your trip too. Brockway's roads are forgiving for new drivers, with low traffic on US 219 and PA 28, and wide-open country highways heading toward Ridgway and DuBois. Pro tip: start with a travel trailer or smaller Class C, do a slow lap of the Walmart lot in DuBois to get a feel for the rig, then head out to Cook Forest. You've got this.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/SafeDriving/Pages/default.aspxWhat happens if I break down during my Brockway RV trip?
Take a breath, you're covered. Every RV rental in Brockway, PA includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of your renter protection plan, so one phone call brings help for flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, towing, or mechanical issues. You can also message your host directly through the RVezy app since they know the rig best. Cell coverage is reliable on US 219, I-80, and around DuBois, though it can get spotty deep inside Allegheny National Forest, so let someone know your route. RVezy support is available before, during, and after your trip too. Pro tip: snap a photo of the nearest mile marker if you pull over, it speeds up dispatch.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Brockway RV rental into other states or Canada?
Yes, interstate trips are welcome, which makes an RV road trip from Brockway a fantastic way to see the eastern U.S. From Brockway you're 2.5 hours to Niagara Falls, NY, 3 hours to Cleveland, OH, 2 hours to Pittsburgh, and 5 hours to Washington, D.C. Some hosts also allow cross-border trips into Canada (think Niagara-on-the-Lake or Toronto), but you'll need to confirm with the host first and request the proper insurance documentation in advance. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental. Pro tip: message the host before booking if your itinerary crosses a border, so paperwork is ready well before your pickup day.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goWhat kind of fuel mileage should I budget for my Brockway RV trip?
Fuel is easier to budget than you'd think. Class B campervans get 18 to 22 miles per gallon (mpg), Class C motorhomes average 10 to 14 mpg, Class A coaches do 7 to 10 mpg, and a truck towing a travel trailer typically returns 10 to 13 mpg. Pennsylvania gas prices generally run a bit above the national average, so figure roughly $3.40 to $3.80 per gallon in the Brockway area. A typical 4-day, 250-mile loop through Cook Forest and Elk Country in a Class C costs about $80 to $110 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in DuBois or Brookville where prices tend to be lower than in smaller towns deeper in the Wilds.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Brockway?
For the best campgrounds near Brockway, book as early as you can, especially for summer weekends and fall foliage. Pennsylvania State Parks (Cook Forest, Clear Creek, Parker Dam) use the official reservation system and open bookings up to 12 months in advance. Summer weekends at Cook Forest sell out 4 to 6 months ahead, and fall color weekends in early October are even more competitive. Private parks like Bear Run Campground also book up fast for July and August. Pro tip: midweek (Sunday through Thursday) availability is usually wide open even in peak season, so if your schedule is flexible, you can snag a riverside site at the last minute.
pennsylvaniastateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are driving conditions like around Brockway?
Driving in Brockway is refreshingly relaxed compared to bigger Pennsylvania metros. US 219 and I-80 are the main routes and both handle RVs of any size easily, with wide lanes and gentle grades. The terrain is rolling Appalachian Plateau (not steep mountains), so even a Class A handles it without drama. Watch for white-tailed deer at dawn and dusk, especially on PA 28 and rural roads near Cook Forest, and slow down for the occasional Amish buggy in Jefferson County. Winter brings snow and ice from December through March, so if you're renting in shoulder season, check the forecast. Pro tip: PennDOT's 511PA service gives real-time road conditions and is your best friend for trip planning.
511pa.com/What hookups and amenities will I find at campgrounds near Brockway?
You'll find a great mix. Pennsylvania State Parks near Brockway (Cook Forest, Clear Creek, Parker Dam) generally offer 30-amp electric sites, potable water spigots, modern restrooms with hot showers, and on-site dump stations, though not every site has a sewer hookup. Private parks like Bear Run Campground offer full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50-amp electric), Wi-Fi, pools, and laundry. You can dump tanks for free at most state park dump stations, and fill fresh water at the campground entrance. Pro tip: ask your host whether the rig has a 30-amp or 50-amp plug, and whether the included adapter kit covers both. That one detail makes setup at any Brockway-area campground a breeze.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/Camping/Pages/default.aspxWhat's typically included inside an RV rental in Brockway?
You'll be impressed: most RVs on the platform come ready to camp, with a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower, sleeping for 4 to 8, climate control with AC and furnace, and seatbelts for everyone traveling. Many include a TV, a generator for off-grid power, an outdoor awning, and a Bluetooth stereo. Wi-Fi varies, but most hosts include either a hotspot add-on or tips on coverage around Brockway and Cook Forest. Pro tip: when comparing motorhome rental Brockway listings, scroll to the amenities section and check for heated holding tanks if you're traveling in shoulder season, since nights can dip below freezing into May.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Brockway,PennsylvaniaWhat add-ons can I get with my Brockway RV rental?
Hosts love to make your trip easy with add-ons. Common ones around Brockway include kitchen kits ($25 to $50), bedding and linen packages ($30 to $75), camp chairs and outdoor rugs ($10 to $25), portable generators ($25 to $50 per day), bike racks, kayak racks, and propane refills. Delivery and setup is the most popular add-on for first-timers (great for a campervan rental Brockway booking) and many hosts will also pre-stock the rig with firewood. Pickup and dropoff are typically at the host's home, but delivery to any campground in Jefferson, Elk, or Clearfield County is usually offered. Pro tip: bundle add-ons in one message to the host before booking. They often discount the total.
visitjeffersonpa.org/How does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure, all handled through the RVezy platform with no cash exchanged at pickup. Your trip total (rental, fees, protection plan, taxes, and any add-ons) is charged to your card when you book. A refundable security deposit is held separately before pickup and released after the trip once the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. The deposit amount is shown on the listing before you commit, so there are no surprises. Pro tip: take date-stamped photos and a quick video of the rig (inside and out, tanks empty, fuel full) at both pickup and dropoff. It's the single best way to keep your full deposit on any RV rental Pennsylvania trip.
