Campgrounds and RV parks near Ridgway, PA

Ridgway sits in Elk County in the northern Pennsylvania Wilds region, at the confluence of the Clarion River and Little Toby Creek. The town is a practical base for RV travelers exploring Elk State Forest and Pennsylvania's wild elk range, and it sits within roughly a half hour of Bendigo State Park, four miles northeast of Johnsonburg on SR 1004, and about twenty miles from the Elk Country Visitor Center in Benezette. RV renters have a mix of options nearby. DuBois / Treasure Lake KOA Holiday is the closest full-service resort-style park to the south, while High Pines RV Park, Elk Crossing 555 Campground, Riverview Campsites, and Bettum's Idlewood Family Campground provide smaller, family-run alternatives within easy driving range. Public land options also exist through Elk State Forest, a large working forest of hardwood ridges and river valleys spanning Elk and Cameron counties. The terrain is forested and hilly, with elevations generally between roughly 1,200 and 2,300 feet. Cell coverage is spotty outside town, and grocery and fuel stops are concentrated in Ridgway, St. Marys, and DuBois.

Bendigo State Park is a day-use area with no overnight camping, so RV travelers rely on private campgrounds and other public campgrounds in the wider region. For overnight stays in Pennsylvania state parks and designated state forest sites, bookings go through the Pennsylvania State Parks and Forests reservation system (also reachable by phone at 888-PA-PARKS). Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance for most state park and state forest overnight stays, so summer and fall foliage weekends should be locked in early. Private campgrounds such as DuBois / Treasure Lake KOA Holiday, High Pines RV Park, Elk Crossing 555 Campground, Riverview Campsites, and Bettum's Idlewood Family Campground book directly through their own websites or call-in reservations. Primitive backpack camping permits in Elk State Forest are handled through the district office.
