RV camping near Rimersburg, Pennsylvania
Rimersburg is a small borough in Clarion County, in northwestern Pennsylvania. It sits within easy driving range of the Clarion River corridor and the forests of the Allegheny Plateau, which makes it a practical base for RV travelers exploring the region between Pittsburgh and the Allegheny National Forest.
Private campgrounds cluster in the surrounding countryside. Wolfs Camping Resort and Quiet Acres Camping are among the closest options, followed by Bear Ridge Campground and RV Resort, Penn Wood Airstream Park, and Rustic Acres RV Resort & Campground. Most offer full or partial hookups, and several run seasonal sites alongside nightly rentals.
For public land, the 8,500-acre Cook Forest State Park lies in scenic northwestern Pennsylvania, is famous for its stands of old growth forest, and its Forest Cathedral of towering white pines and hemlocks is a National Natural Landmark. It is the nearest large state park with a full campground and sits within about a half-hour drive of Rimersburg.
Things to do near Rimersburg
The Clarion River is the main draw. The Clarion River connects Clear Creek State Park to Cook Forest State Park along a scenic 10-mile stretch of river which is popular for canoeing and rafting. Local liveries rent kayaks, canoes, and tubes during the warm months, and shuttle services run from Cooksburg.
Hikers head to Cook Forest for the Forest Cathedral and the Seneca Point fire tower area. The park offers miles of trails catering to a range of skill levels, plus fishing on the Clarion River. The Redbank Valley Trails is a 51-mile non-motorized, 4-season trail recognized by DCNR as PA's first Trail of the Year for 2014.
Rimersburg's business district is not on the trail, but Main Street is less than one mile from the trail via SR861 and has several restaurants, a grocery store, a gas station, banks, and shopping. The trail has a packed crushed limestone surface for a smooth ride and easy walking.

The main camping season in this part of Pennsylvania runs from mid-spring through mid-fall. Visitors can stay overnight in Ridge Campground at Cook Forest State Park from mid-April to mid-October, and most private parks around Rimersburg follow a similar April-through-October window. Some private resorts extend into early winter for seasonal-site holders.
Summer weekends fill quickly. Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day weekends see the highest demand across the state park and nearby private campgrounds, and popular sites at Cook Forest often need to be booked well in advance. Midweek stays are much easier to secure and quieter.
Fall brings peak color to the hardwoods and hemlocks, typically from late September through mid-October, and is the second busiest stretch. Winter is cold and snowy, with most campgrounds closed or limited to seasonal sites. Modern restrooms with showers are available for the duration of the camping season, weather permitting, and in the case of freezing temperatures shower houses at Cook Forest are closed.

Site types vary. Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Rimersburg, PA
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Rimersburg, PA?
RV rental in Rimersburg, PA is one of the most affordable ways to explore western Pennsylvania's Clarion County backcountry. Most travel trailers list between $90 and $160 per night, while Class C motorhomes typically run $175 to $275 per night, and larger Class A coaches can climb higher during peak fall foliage. To save, target midweek pickups (Sunday through Thursday), book outside the late September to mid-October Autumn Leaf Festival rush in nearby Clarion, and filter by Instant Book for owners who reward quick bookings. Hosts in surrounding towns like Sligo, New Bethlehem, and Knox often price slightly lower than Clarion proper, so widen your search radius by 25 miles for the best deals on a Rimersburg RV trip.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Rimersburg,%20PennsylvaniaWhat do I need to rent an RV in Rimersburg, Pennsylvania?
Renting an RV in Rimersburg is refreshingly simple. You'll generally need to be at least 25 years old and hold a valid driver's license. Pennsylvania does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for the motorhomes and trailers listed on RVezy, even for larger Class A rigs. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license, and an International Driving Permit (IDP) is recommended for your Rimersburg RV trip. Identity verification happens securely through the RVezy platform during booking, so you can complete everything from home. Most first-time renters are pleasantly surprised by how quickly approval comes through after submitting documents.

Yes, and this is one of the best parts of booking through RVezy. Every RV rental in Rimersburg, PA comes with a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance built right into your booking, no separate policy to chase down. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV, and you choose your coverage tier during checkout based on how much peace of mind you want. If a tire blows on Route 68 or you need a tow near Cook Forest, one phone call gets help dispatched any hour of the day or night, giving you real confidence on your Rimersburg RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Rimersburg RV booking?
Booking is low risk because RVezy uses a clear, platform-wide cancellation policy that applies whether you're renting in Rimersburg, Pittsburgh, or Philadelphia. Refund amounts depend on how far out you are from your trip start date, and there are provisions for qualifying extenuating circumstances. Because the cancellation terms are set by RVezy (not individual hosts), you get the same predictable rules on every booking. Tip: book early to lock in the best rigs for fall foliage season, then you'll have plenty of runway to adjust under the most flexible part of the cancellation window. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy refunds the booking or helps you rebook.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an RV trip from Rimersburg?
Absolutely, finding a pet-friendly RV rental in Rimersburg is easy. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see hosts who welcome dogs and cats, with any weight limits or pet counts listed clearly on the listing page. Pennsylvania state parks like nearby Cook Forest and Clear Creek allow leashed pets on designated campsites and most trails, and the State Game Lands surrounding Rimersburg are great for dog walks. Local favorite: the Redbank Valley Trail, a long rail-trail running through New Bethlehem just east of Rimersburg, is leash-friendly and nearly flat, perfect for older dogs. Pack a tie-out and a water bowl and your pup will love the trip as much as you do.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/Pages/Pets.aspxCan the RV be delivered to my campsite near Rimersburg?
Yes, RV delivery in Rimersburg is one of the most popular options, especially for first-timers who would rather not drive a 30-foot rig down PA Route 68 on day one. Many RVezy hosts will deliver and set up your motorhome or travel trailer directly at your campsite, whether that's Cook Forest State Park, Clear Creek State Park, or a private campground in the area. They'll level the rig, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Filter listings by Delivery and message the host with your campsite address to confirm the delivery fee, which typically scales with distance. It's the easiest possible way to start your RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037904633-What-is-RV-deliveryHow far can I travel from Rimersburg on a typical RV trip?

Cook Forest State Park (old-growth white pines and the Clarion River) is about 30 miles north, roughly 45 minutes away. Allegheny National Forest is roughly 60 miles north (about 90 minutes), Pittsburgh sits about 75 miles south (under 2 hours), Presque Isle on Lake Erie is around 110 miles northwest (about 2.5 hours), and the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon at Leonard Harrison State Park is roughly 175 miles east (about 3.5 hours). Each RVezy host sets their own mileage policy, so filter for unlimited mileage if you're planning a big loop, or stick with a daily allowance if you're mostly base-camping.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/CookForestStatePark/Pages/default.aspxWhere are the best campgrounds near Rimersburg, PA?
You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping near Rimersburg. Top picks include Cook Forest State Park's Ridge Campground (about 30 minutes north, with electric hookups, old-growth forest, and Clarion River access), Clear Creek State Park (about 45 minutes north, with quiet riverside sites and dark skies), Rustic Acres RV Resort near Clarion (full hookups, pool, family-friendly), Kalyumet Campground in Lucinda (lake fishing and full amenities), and Crooked Creek Lake Recreation Area near Ford City (US Army Corps of Engineers sites, about 40 minutes south). For Pennsylvania state parks, reservations open up to 11 months ahead through the official DCNR system. Tip: aim for a riverside loop site at Cook Forest early in the week and you'll have the Clarion River right out your door.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/ClearCreekStatePark/Pages/default.aspxWhen is the best time to visit Rimersburg in an RV?
Late spring through mid-fall is the sweet spot for a Rimersburg RV trip, with each season offering something different. May and June bring mild days, blooming mountain laurel, and uncrowded campgrounds. July and August are warmer and great for kayaking the Clarion River. The real magic comes from late September through mid-October, when Clarion County's hardwood ridges turn orange and red and the Autumn Leaf Festival fills downtown Clarion. Winters here are cold with regular snow, so many hosts pause listings in the off-season, though a few four-season rigs are available for shoulder-season trips. Tip: book your fall foliage RV early in the summer, since the best units in the area sell out fast.
weather.gov/ctp/I've never rented an RV before. Is renting in Rimersburg beginner-friendly?
Rimersburg is genuinely one of the easier places in Pennsylvania to try your first RV rental. Roads are quiet, traffic is light, and your host will walk you through every system at pickup, from awning to gray-water tank to propane stove, before you ever turn the key. Many hosts in the area also offer delivery and setup at your campground, so you can skip driving altogether on your maiden voyage. Choose a travel trailer or smaller Class C if you're nervous about size, and stick to nearby state parks like Cook Forest for your first night. First time renting an RV in Clarion County? You'll be amazed at how quickly everything clicks.
rvezy.com/blog/first-time-rv-renters-guideWhat happens if something breaks down during my trip?
You're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, no matter where you are in Pennsylvania. Whether you've got a flat on PA-68 outside Rimersburg, a dead battery at Cook Forest, or a propane issue at Clear Creek State Park, one phone call dispatches help any time of day or night. Your host is also a direct line for quick questions about the quirks of their specific rig, and the RVezy support team is reachable before, during, and after every trip. Cell service can be spotty in deep forest areas of Clarion County, so save the roadside assistance number to your phone before heading out for true peace of mind.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Rimersburg RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate RV trips are common and easy. From Rimersburg you can reach New York, Ohio, West Virginia, or Maryland in just a few hours, and your RVezy protection plan and roadside assistance follow you across state borders within the US. Cross-border trips into Canada (think Niagara Falls, a little over 3 hours away) are possible with certain hosts and require advance approval, so message the host directly from the listing page before booking if Canada is on your itinerary. One firm rule: travel into Mexico isn't permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection don't extend there. Popular routes from Rimersburg include I-80 east toward the Poconos and I-79 north to Lake Erie.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and budget should I expect?
Most motorhome rentals around Rimersburg get roughly 8 to 12 miles per gallon, while travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (often around 10 to 14 MPG combined). Pennsylvania gas prices typically run in the mid-$3 per gallon range, with stations along I-80 in Clarion and along US-322 generally cheaper than rural backroads. For a classic 250-mile loop from Rimersburg up to Cook Forest, over to Allegheny National Forest, and back, budget roughly $80 to $120 in fuel for a Class C. Tip: fill up at one of the larger stations in Clarion off I-80 before heading north, since prices there usually beat the smaller stations near the state parks.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Rimersburg?
For the best campgrounds near Rimersburg, book 3 to 6 months ahead, especially for summer weekends and the entire fall foliage stretch from mid-September through mid-October. Pennsylvania state parks (Cook Forest, Clear Creek, and others) open reservations up to 11 months in advance through the official DCNR reservation system, and prime riverside loops at Cook Forest can disappear within days of opening. Private parks like Rustic Acres and Kalyumet take bookings directly through their own websites. Insider tip: midweek nights (Sunday through Wednesday) are far easier to grab, even during peak fall, and many sites cost less. Stay flexible with your arrival day and your options multiply dramatically.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/ReserveCampsiteorFacility/Pages/default.aspxWhat are the driving conditions like around Rimersburg?
Driving an RV around Rimersburg is far less intimidating than big-city RV driving. The main routes, PA-68, PA-66, and PA-28, are two-lane country roads with gentle curves through rolling Appalachian hills, light traffic, and good sightlines. I-80, just a short drive north, is wide, well-maintained, and toll-free through this stretch. A few things to watch for: some steeper grades dropping into the Allegheny River valleys near East Brady and Foxburg, low-clearance railroad underpasses on backroads (always use GPS set to RV mode), and white-tailed deer at dawn and dusk, especially in October and November. Winter brings snow and ice from December through March, so drive slowly through small towns like Sligo and New Bethlehem and you'll feel right at home.
511pa.com/What hookups and amenities will I find at campgrounds near Rimersburg?
Campgrounds near Rimersburg cover the full range. Pennsylvania state parks like Cook Forest and Clear Creek offer 30- and 50-amp electric hookups, potable water spigots, clean bathhouses with hot showers, and dump stations (most state sites don't include individual sewer hookups). Private parks like Rustic Acres RV Resort and Kalyumet Campground typically add full hookups (water, sewer, electric) along with WiFi, laundry, camp stores, pools, and playgrounds. Need to dump tanks mid-trip? Cook Forest's dump station near Ridge Campground is open seasonally, and most private parks let non-guests dump for a small fee. Fill your fresh tank before leaving Clarion, since water access at trailheads is rare in the surrounding state forests.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/CookForestStatePark/Pages/Camping.aspxWhat's typically included inside a Rimersburg RV rental?
You'll be impressed by how complete most RV rentals in Rimersburg, PA arrive. Expect a full kitchen (refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, sink, and basic cookware), a private bathroom with toilet and shower, comfortable beds for the listed sleeps count, dinette seating with seatbelts for travel, climate control (air conditioning and furnace), and house batteries to keep lights and outlets running off-grid. Many motorhome rentals in Rimersburg also include a generator, an outdoor awning, a flat-screen TV, and a Bluetooth stereo. WiFi is usually your own hotspot since most rural Clarion County campgrounds rely on cellular. Linens, towels, and kitchen starter kits are often available as add-ons, so check the listing page or message the host to confirm what's included for your specific rig.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Rimersburg,%20PennsylvaniaWhat add-ons can I get with my Rimersburg RV rental?
Most hosts offer a helpful menu of add-ons to make your Clarion County trip smoother. Common extras include linen and towel packages, kitchen starter kits, portable generators for off-grid camping in the Allegheny National Forest, kayaks or stand-up paddleboards for the Clarion River, bikes for the Redbank Valley Trail, camp chairs, firewood bundles, and outdoor games. Hosts also set their own mileage policies, so filter for unlimited mileage if you're planning a big loop through northwestern Pennsylvania. Pickup and drop-off times are listed on each listing and are often flexible by an hour or two if you message ahead. Insider move: ask about a Clarion River tubing package, since several hosts partner with local outfitters and bundle it at a good price.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Rimersburg,%20PennsylvaniaHow do payments and the security deposit work?
Booking an RV rental in Rimersburg is straightforward and secure. All payments go through the RVezy platform (no cash, no third-party apps), so your money is protected from the moment you book until your trip wraps up. A separate, refundable security deposit is held during your rental and released after the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. To make sure your deposit returns without a hitch: return the RV on time, refill the fuel tank to where it started, empty the gray and black tanks (or pay the dump fee), and tidy up the interior. Most renters get their deposit back shortly after the trip ends.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksAre there cheap RV rentals available in Rimersburg?
Yes, a cheap RV rental in Rimersburg is very achievable because western Pennsylvania prices run noticeably lower than big metro areas. The lowest nightly rates are typically older travel trailers and pop-ups starting around $75 to $95 per night, often from hosts in Sligo, Knox, and New Bethlehem who price competitively. To stretch your budget further: book midweek, target shoulder seasons (May, early June, and late October), sort listings low-to-high using the RVezy price filter, and consider a delivered travel trailer so you skip needing a tow vehicle entirely. A family RV trip from Rimersburg for a long weekend can easily come in under $500 all-in including campground fees.
