RV camping near Falls City, Texas
Falls City sits in northern Karnes County in the South Texas brush country, roughly seven miles northwest of Karnes City and within about an hour of San Antonio to the northwest. The area is a working ranch and oil-and-gas region shaped by the San Antonio River valley and a Polish-American settlement history tied to the 1886 San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway line and the depot originally called Brackenridge.
RV renters typically use Falls City as a quiet, low-cost base for touring the missions and River Walk in San Antonio, the historic Polish parish at Panna Maria, and the state parks along the coastal plain. The immediate area leans toward small private RV parks rather than large resorts, with pull-through and full-hookup sites geared to both energy-sector workers and travelers.
Creekside RV Park, Pecan Grove RV Resort, Quail Ridge RV Park, Rusty Rocker RV Park, and Vista Ridge RV Park are the closest options, giving renters full-service pads within a short drive of US-181 and State Highway 80.
Things to do around Falls City
Day-trip options fan out in every direction. The Panna Maria Historic District, the first Polish settlement in the United States, is a short drive north, and the courthouse-era ruins at Old Helena round out the county's main draws.
For bigger outings, San Antonio's missions, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, SeaWorld, and the River Walk are within about an hour. Goliad State Park and Historic Site to the southeast pairs mission ruins with river paddling, and Choke Canyon State Park on the Frio River offers a large reservoir known for largemouth bass, catfish, and white bass, along with alligator and bird viewing.
Closer to town, the San Antonio River corridor is used for kayaking and bank fishing, and area ranches offer seasonal white-tailed deer and dove hunting.

South Texas seasons swing hard. Summers are hot and humid, with afternoon highs commonly in the mid-90s Fahrenheit and heat index values pushing past 100, and afternoon thunderstorms are common through July and August. RV renters traveling in June through August should plan for full hookups with 30/50-amp service to run air conditioning around the clock.
Spring and fall are the sweet spots. March through May brings wildflowers, mild days, and a busy calendar of local events, including bluebonnet season in April. Late September through November cools off, humidity drops, and the region sees a second peak of activity around deer season and Thanksgiving travel.
Winter is short and mild, with daytime highs usually in the 60s Fahrenheit and only occasional freezes. September is historically the wettest month, and tropical systems moving inland from the Gulf can bring heavy rain and localized flooding along the San Antonio River, so travelers watching hurricane-season forecasts should stay flexible on August through October dates.
How to book campgrounds near Falls City
Private RV parks in the Falls City area, including Creekside RV Park, Pecan Grove RV Resort, Quail Ridge RV Park, Rusty Rocker RV Park, and Vista Ridge RV Park, are booked directly by phone or through each operator's website. Because the Eagle Ford Shale still drives long-stay demand from field crews, weekly and monthly holds are common, and short-notice weekend availability can be tight. Calling ahead to confirm rig length and slide clearance is worth the time.
For Texas State Parks in the region, such as Choke Canyon and Goliad, reservations run through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department system, with sites bookable up to five months in advance on a rolling window. Holiday weekends, spring break, and cool-season weekends fill first, so booking as soon as the window opens is the safest approach.
What to expect on the ground
Falls City itself is small, with a handful of restaurants, a general store, and basic services. Groceries, fuel, propane, and dump stations are easiest to find in Karnes City or Floresville, and full-service shopping is in San Antonio. Cell coverage is generally reliable along the US-181 corridor and can thin out on ranch roads.
Roads into the region are flat and RV-friendly, with US-181 as the main artery. Site surfaces at local parks tend to be gravel or concrete pads with 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer.
Summer heat, fire ants, mosquitoes, and the occasional rattlesnake are part of the landscape, so shade awnings, insect repellent, and closed footwear are useful. In wet stretches, unpaved back roads and low water crossings can flood quickly, so checking local advisories before moving the rig is standard practice.

Texas only requires a non-commercial Class A or Class B license for personal RVs with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) over 26,000 pounds, and the vast majority of travel trailers, campervans, and Class C motorhomes on RVezy fall well under that limit. Booking an RV rental in Falls City is low-risk because RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy, which includes a money-back grace period after you book. That gives you breathing room to firm up plans without worrying that one schedule hiccup costs you the whole trip. Refund amounts after the grace period depend on how close you are to your start date, and extenuating circumstances like a natural disaster may be reviewed by RVezy support. The support team is available before, during, and after every trip to help with changes. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best rigs, you can always adjust later.

Absolutely, a pet-friendly RV rental in Falls City is easy to find on RVezy. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on the search page to see listings where dogs (and sometimes cats) are welcome, along with details on pet fees and any size limits set by the host. Once you arrive, your pup will love Choke Canyon State Park about an hour southwest, which allows leashed dogs on trails and at campsites, and Goliad State Park to the east is also dog-friendly. Pack a tie-out, plenty of water for the Texas heat, and a copy of vaccination records. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet rules and grab a campsite with shade.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/park-information/pets-in-parksCan the RV be delivered to my campsite near Falls City?
Yes, RV delivery is offered by many RVezy hosts around Falls City, and it is one of the easiest ways to start a trip if you have never towed before. Your host drops the RV at your chosen spot (think Choke Canyon State Park, Goliad State Park, or a private property near Karnes City), levels it, hooks up water and power, and walks you through every system before handing over the keys. Delivery fees usually scale with distance, so closer destinations cost less. Filter by Delivery on RVezy to see options instantly. Pro tip: book delivery to a state park and you can leave your car at home stress-free.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/choke-canyonHow far can I drive on a Falls City RV trip?

Falls City sits in a sweet spot of South Texas: San Antonio is about 50 miles northwest (roughly an hour), Corpus Christi and the Gulf Coast are about 130 miles southeast (around 2.5 hours), Austin is about 130 miles north (around 2 hours), and Padre Island National Seashore is roughly 3 hours away. You have great options when it comes to RV camping near Falls City. Top picks include Choke Canyon State Park (Calliham Unit) about an hour southwest, with water and electric sites on a large reservoir known for bass fishing and alligator sightings; Goliad State Park and Historic Site, about 45 minutes east, with shaded sites along the San Antonio River near Mission Espiritu Santo; and Lake Corpus Christi State Park near Mathis, with lakeside sites. Closer to town, private RV parks in Karnes City and Kenedy offer easy full-hookup stays. Pro tip: book Texas State Parks up to 5 months in advance, they fill fast on weekends.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/choke-canyonWhen is the best time of year to rent an RV in Falls City?
The sweet spot for a Falls City RV trip is mid-October through April, when daytime highs hover in the comfortable 60s to upper 70s and nights are cool enough for a campfire. Summers in South Texas are hot and humid, with daytime highs regularly in the 90s and occasionally pushing 100, so AC and shaded sites become essential. Spring (March to early May) brings wildflowers and great fishing at Choke Canyon, while fall delivers a great mix of mild weather and fewer crowds. Winters are mild with rare frost, making this region popular with Snowbirds. Pro tip: line up your trip with a local event like the Goliad Longhorn Stampede Rodeo for extra local flavor.
weather.gov/crp/I've never rented an RV before, how does it work?
First time renting an RV? You're going to be just fine. On RVezy, every host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering propane, water, slide-outs, the generator, and how to dump tanks. They share their phone number so you can text questions anytime during the trip, and RVezy support is available 24/7 as backup. Most first-timers in the Falls City area choose a Class C motorhome or a smaller travel trailer because they handle like a big van and are easy to park at state park sites. Pro tip: do a short practice loop on US-181 or US-281 (both wide, low-traffic highways near Falls City) before heading to your campground to build confidence.
txdot.gov/about/programs/road-safety.htmlWhat if I get a flat tire or break down during my trip?
You are never stranded on an RVezy trip. Every booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering things like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing within policy limits. If something happens on a back road between Falls City and Choke Canyon, one phone call gets help dispatched to your location. Your host is also a direct resource, most know their rig inside out and can troubleshoot small things by text. Save your roadside number, the host's number, and RVezy support before you leave. Pro tip: do a quick walk-around of tires and lights every morning before driving, it catches most issues before they happen.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Falls City RV rental to Mexico or out of state?
Out-of-state road trips are absolutely on the table, and a popular RV road trip from Falls City heads to New Orleans (about 8 hours east on I-10), Big Bend National Park (about 7 hours west), or north into Oklahoma. Cross-country travel within the U.S. and Canada is generally allowed, but you should confirm long-distance plans directly with your host since they may have mileage or geographic limits. Travel to Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals because protection and roadside coverage end at the border. Pro tip: message the host with your full itinerary before booking so everything is approved in writing.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Falls City RV trip?
Fuel is usually the biggest variable cost, but Texas gas prices are typically among the lowest in the country, which makes a Falls City RV trip very budget-friendly. Class B campervans average about 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes get roughly 10 to 14 MPG, and Class A motorhomes or large fifth-wheel setups run around 7 to 10 MPG. A typical 300-mile loop from Falls City to Corpus Christi and back in a Class C might burn about 25 gallons. Fill up in Karnes City, Floresville, or Kenedy where prices tend to beat highway stations. Pro tip: use a fuel app like GasBuddy and plan stops with pull-through access so you do not have to unhook trailers.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Falls City?
For Texas State Parks like Choke Canyon and Goliad, reservations open up to 5 months in advance through the Texas Parks and Wildlife reservation system, and weekends from March through May (plus major holidays) sell out fast, so booking the day the window opens is the smart move. Private RV parks in the Karnes County area usually have more flexibility and can often be booked a few weeks out. For a peak-season Falls City RV trip, lock in your campground before you book the RV so your dates line up. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for exactly 5 months before your travel date and book at 8 a.m. Central.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/park-information/reservationsWhat are the driving conditions like around Falls City?
Driving an RV around Falls City is refreshingly easy compared to big-city travel. The main routes (US-181, US-87, and TX-72) are flat, wide, and lightly trafficked, with long sightlines and gentle curves that are forgiving for first-time motorhome drivers. You will share the road with oil-field trucks since this is Eagle Ford Shale country, so leave extra following distance and avoid sudden lane changes. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk on rural roads, and keep an eye on the sky during spring storm season (April to June) when South Texas thunderstorms can roll in fast. Pro tip: avoid I-37 around San Antonio during weekday rush hour by routing through US-181 instead.
drivetexas.org/What amenities do campgrounds near Falls City offer?
Campgrounds around Falls City make RV life easy. Texas State Parks like Choke Canyon and Goliad offer water and 30/50-amp electric hookups, dump stations, hot showers, and picnic tables with shade structures, though most sites do not have sewer hookups. Private RV parks in Karnes City and Kenedy typically offer full hookups (water, electric, sewer), laundry, and Wi-Fi. Need to fill fresh water or dump tanks mid-trip? Choke Canyon's dump station is well maintained, and many truck stops along US-181 have potable water. Pro tip: pack a 25-foot sewer hose and a water pressure regulator, those two items prevent most campground headaches.

Campervan rentals around Falls City are more compact but still include a bed, kitchenette, and often a wet bath. Each listing on RVezy spells out exactly what is included. Mileage policies vary, so check each listing closely. Pro tip: bundle add-ons when you book, hosts often discount the total if you take multiple items.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Falls%20City%2C%20TexasHow do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment on RVezy is straightforward and secure. You pay the booking total through the platform with a credit or debit card, and your funds are protected until your trip starts. A refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your card before pickup, not charged outright, and it is released after the trip once the host confirms the RV came back in good condition. To avoid issues, do a thorough walk-around with the host at pickup and dropoff, take photos, and document any pre-existing scratches. Pro tip: return the rig clean and with the same fuel and propane levels, that is the fastest way to get your full deposit back.
