RV camping near Meadowlakes, Texas
Meadowlakes sits in Burnet County on the north shore of the Colorado River in the Texas Hill Country, bordering Marble Falls and roughly 49 miles northwest of downtown Austin. The area anchors the Highland Lakes chain, with Lake LBJ, Lake Marble Falls, and Inks Lake all within a short drive, and the surrounding hills carry the characteristic granite-and-limestone terrain of the region.
RV travelers use Meadowlakes as a base for lakeside camping and off-road recreation. Sunset Point On Lake Lbj RV Park and Bullfrog Cove at Twin Isles RV Park put visitors directly on the water, while Hofbrau RV Park offers a closer-in Marble Falls option for shorter stays. Hidden Falls Adventure Park adds RV sites tied to a large private tract of off-road trails just west of town.
Day trips reach Inks Lake State Park, Longhorn Cavern State Park, and Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge without a long drive. Krause Springs in nearby Spicewood adds a spring-fed swimming hole and campground option about 30 miles east.
Things to do around Meadowlakes
Water dominates the itinerary. Lake LBJ is a constant-level reservoir suited to boating, fishing, and paddling, and campgrounds like Sunset Point On Lake Lbj RV Park and Bullfrog Cove at Twin Isles RV Park provide direct lake access. Marble Falls sits minutes away for restaurants, groceries, and boat ramps.
Off the water, Hidden Falls Adventure Park runs trails for Jeeps, side-by-sides, ATVs, and dirt bikes across a large private tract, plus a general store and on-site amenities. Inks Lake State Park and Longhorn Cavern State Park sit a short drive north, pairing pink granite outcrops and lake swimming with guided cave tours.
For a cool-water break, Krause Springs in Spicewood offers a spring-fed pool and a natural swimming hole on Little Cypress Creek, along with a butterfly garden and walking trails.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel in the Highland Lakes. Fall trades summer heat for warm afternoons and cool nights, though September and October also see spikes in rainfall, and crowds thin after Labor Day.
Summer is peak season for lake camping. June through August is hot and muggy, with August highs frequently near or above 99°F, and lakeside sites at parks like Sunset Point On Lake Lbj RV Park and Bullfrog Cove at Twin Isles RV Park fill well in advance around holiday weekends. Spring-fed water at Krause Springs, which stays around 68°F year-round, is a major summer draw.
Winter is mild by North American standards, with January highs around 59°F and lows near 41°F. Snow is rare. Some private parks reduce hours or close for maintenance from November through February, but most Highland Lakes campgrounds remain open year-round.

This RV trailer was immaculate to begin with. Joe had it completely setup (water, electric, sewer, leveled) at the exact time we had agreed to. He went over all of the features of the trailer with me before departing and answered his phone whenever we had any questions. I'll definitely rent from Joe again and would recommend anyone in the Texas Hill Country to do the same with absolute confidence. Thanks Joe and Bekah!

This RV was awesome! Joseph and Bekah delivered it and set it up. They even made the bed, provided linens/towels, pots and pans, dishes, a coffee pot…. We are cooks and their knives are better than ours! We will rent this RV again!

We had an incredible experience renting an RV for the F1 weekend in Austin. Communication was flawless from start to finish - they were friendly, responsive, and genuinely great to work with. They handled the entire setup and pickup, making the process completely seamless and stress-free. I would absolutely recommend renting from them and wouldn’t hesitate to book again. If you’re on the fence, don’t be, you're in great hands!

How to book campgrounds near Meadowlakes
Texas state parks use a single reservation system through Texas Parks and Wildlife. Inks Lake State Park, the closest state-park campground, regularly sells out of both camping and day-use passes and recommends reserving online or by phone before arrival. Individual campsites can be booked up to five months ahead on a rolling basis, which matters for weekends between March and October.
Private parks in the area each run their own booking. Hidden Falls Adventure Park takes reservations across cabins, RV sites, and primitive camping, with riding passes handled separately. Krause Springs takes reservations for its 24 RV sites with water and electric, while primitive tent camping is first come, first served, and the property is cash-only.
For lakeside RV parks near Meadowlakes, book Sunset Point On Lake Lbj RV Park, Hofbrau RV Park, or Bullfrog Cove at Twin Isles RV Park directly through the operator, and reserve early for summer holidays.
What to expect on the ground
Roads into most Highland Lakes RV parks are paved, and rigs of typical rental size handle the routes without trouble. Expect narrower approaches at private lakeside parks such as Bullfrog Cove at Twin Isles RV Park and Sunset Point On Lake Lbj RV Park, where sites are arranged close to the water and turning space can be tight.
Hookups vary. Full water, electric, and sewer are standard at the larger commercial parks, while Krause Springs provides water and electric with 20, 30, and 50 amp service at its 24 RV sites and no sewer at the site. Hidden Falls Adventure Park mixes hookup sites with primitive options, and daytime OHV activity nearby can be noisy.
Cell coverage is generally reliable near Marble Falls and thins in the hills west of town. Summers are hot: plan for shade, sunscreen, and running A/C, and check Burnet County burn ban status before planning any campfire.
