Campgrounds and RV parks near Poth, TX

Poth sits in Wilson County, about 35 miles southeast of San Antonio along US Highway 181, in the South Texas brush country between the San Antonio River and the upper coastal plain. The area suits RV travelers looking for quiet, small-town basing within easy reach of San Antonio attractions, the missions, and routes toward the Gulf Coast. Local RV options near Poth lean toward independently operated parks rather than resort chains. Creekside RV Park and Quail Ridge RV Park offer closer-in options, while Rusty Rocker RV Park, Vista Ridge RV Park, and Cactus Country RV Park extend the search radius for travelers who want larger pull-throughs or longer-term stays. Most parks in this corridor focus on full hookups, gravel or concrete pads, and basic amenities rather than pools and activity programs. State park camping is not in Poth itself. The nearest Texas Parks and Wildlife sites for RV camping are Choke Canyon State Park to the south and Goliad State Park to the southeast, both within roughly an hour and a half drive.

Private RV parks around Poth, including Creekside RV Park, Quail Ridge RV Park, Rusty Rocker RV Park, Vista Ridge RV Park, and Cactus Country RV Park, generally take reservations by phone or through their own websites. Many of these parks cater to monthly and long-term guests, so nightly inventory can be limited during snowbird season, and calling ahead is the most reliable way to confirm a pull-through that fits a larger rig. For Texas state parks in the region, Choke Canyon and Goliad use the Texas Parks and Wildlife reservation system. Overnight camping reservations open on a rolling five-month window at 8 a.m. Central Time. Popular weekends, holidays, and cooler-season dates can book out the moment the window opens. Day passes are reserved separately, up to one month in advance, and a camping reservation does not always include the entrance fee.
