Campgrounds near Wimberley, Texas
Wimberley sits in the Texas Hill Country between Austin and San Antonio, along Cypress Creek and near the Blanco River. RV travelers use it as a base for spring-fed swimming holes, the town square, and day trips to nearby state parks. The area draws heavy weekend traffic from both metros during warm months, so sites near the square and along the creeks tend to book earliest.
Campground options range from small, quiet parks to larger resort-style properties. Priddy Meadow RV Park and Green Acres Cottages sit on the smaller end, while Black Canyon Wimberley RV Park and Cabins and Horseshoe Ridge RV Resort offer more full-hookup sites and standard resort amenities. Camp Fimfo Texas Hill Country is the largest option in the area and is built around families, with pools and organized activities.
Most private parks around Wimberley cater to Class A, Class C, and travel-trailer rentals, with pull-through and back-in sites. Rig-length limits vary by park, so confirm site dimensions before booking a longer coach.
Things to do near Wimberley
The two headline stops are Blue Hole Regional Park on Cypress Creek and Jacob's Well Natural Area. Blue Hole operates a timed swim reservation system during its summer season, while Jacob's Well access is managed by Hays County and has been limited during recent low-flow conditions. Confirm current swim status with the City of Wimberley and Hays County before planning the day around either site.
Beyond the swimming holes, Old Baldy offers a short, steep climb with a view of the valley, and Wimberley Square hosts Market Days on the first Saturday of the month from spring through fall. Pedernales Falls State Park, Blanco State Park, and Canyon Lake are all within a reasonable RV day-trip radius for hiking, fishing, and paddling.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable stretches for RV camping. March through May brings wildflowers, warm afternoons, and the highest rainfall of the year, with May typically the wettest month. Fall carries mild days, cool nights, and generally lower crowds after Labor Day, though weekends near the square stay busy.
Summer is peak season for water activity and also the hottest and most crowded window. Blue Hole's published swim season runs from May 1 through Labor Day, with additional weekend days in September, and reservations sell out well ahead for weekends and holidays. Afternoon highs regularly sit in the mid-90s, so shaded sites and full hookups with functioning air conditioning are worth prioritizing.
Winter is mild by North American standards, with highs generally in the upper 50s and low 60s Fahrenheit and lows that rarely stay below freezing for long. Flash flooding is a real risk on the Blanco and Pedernales rivers during heavy rain events in any season, and low-water crossings can close with little warning.

RV was great! We had a wonderful time renting it for a weekend at COTA. Jesse was very responsive and helpful anytime we needed it.
Michael G. - Sep 2026
Jesse is great! This is my second time renting a camper from him and he has been very easy to work with. We were camping locally and he even stopped by to check on us the day after our departure and brought us an outdoor rug just in case we got some rain! I highly recommend him and we will certainly be using him again in the future!

How to book RV sites near Wimberley
Private RV parks around Wimberley take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. For summer weekends, Memorial Day, July Fourth, Labor Day, and Market Days, book several weeks to a few months out. Larger properties like Camp Fimfo Texas Hill Country and Horseshoe Ridge RV Resort tend to fill their prime weekends earliest.
State-park sites at Pedernales Falls and Blanco are booked through the Texas Parks and Wildlife reservation system, which opens up to five months in advance on a rolling daily basis. Day-use entry at popular state parks can also require a separate day pass during busier periods.
Blue Hole swim sessions are booked separately through the City of Wimberley Parks and Recreation site and are not tied to any campground stay.
What to expect on the ground
Roads into Wimberley are two-lane and winding, with a few tight turns and low-water crossings on side routes. Drivers of longer coaches should stick to RM 12 and US 290 rather than taking shortcuts through ranch roads. Cell coverage is generally usable near the square and along main highways but can thin out at more remote parks.
Most private campgrounds in the area offer full hookups, though water pressure and site levelness vary. Grocery runs are easy at the Wimberley HEB, and downtown restaurants and galleries are a short drive from any of the listed parks.
Wildlife is common at dusk, including deer near roads and campsites. Fire restrictions and burn bans are frequent in Hays and Blanco counties during dry months, so check current county rules before planning a campfire.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Wimberley, TX
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Wimberley, TX?
Renting an RV in Wimberley is surprisingly affordable, especially compared to a Hill Country hotel during festival season. On RVezy, expect roughly $90 to $175 per night for travel trailers, $125 to $250 for Class C motorhomes, and $250 to $450 for larger Class A coaches, with weekly discounts on many listings. You can stretch your budget by traveling midweek, booking shoulder seasons like March or October, or filtering for cheap RV rental Wimberley listings under $150. Pro tip: many Wimberley hosts include camp chairs, linens, and outdoor rugs at no extra cost, which saves you a Buc-ee's stop on the way in.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Wimberley%2C%20TexasDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Wimberley?
Good news: your regular driver's license is all you need for virtually every RV rental in Wimberley. Texas only requires a non-commercial Class A or B license for personal RVs over 26,000 pounds GVWR, which is heavier than the Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and travel trailers listed on RVezy. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older with a valid license, and your ID is verified through the platform in a few quick steps. Visiting from abroad? Bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home license and you are cleared to roll out toward Jacob's Well.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs my Wimberley RV rental protected if something goes wrong?
Yes, every RVezy booking for an RV rental in Wimberley includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you are covered from pickup to return. During checkout you choose the protection level that fits your trip, and that plan covers accidental damage to the RV up to the plan limits, giving you real financial peace of mind without arranging separate coverage. The cancellation and protection policies are set by RVezy, not the individual host. Pro tip: take a quick walk-around video at pickup and drop-off so any pre-existing scuffs on those Hill Country limestone driveways are clearly documented.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Wimberley RV trip?
Booking is low-risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy, not the individual host. You can review the full policy and your refund window during checkout before you confirm, so there are no surprises. Your refund amount depends on how far in advance of the trip you cancel. If your host cancels, RVezy helps you rebook or issues a refund or travel credit. Pro tip: Wimberley is famous for sudden Blanco River flooding in spring, so if a storm is forecast, message your host early and RVezy support can help you adjust your dates.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Wimberley?
Absolutely, Wimberley is one of the most dog-loving towns in Texas Hill Country. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to instantly see hosts who welcome four-legged guests on your pet-friendly RV rental Wimberley search. Once you arrive, your pup will love the leashed trails at Blue Hole Regional Park, the wide-open hikes around Old Baldy, and the dog-friendly patios on Wimberley Square at spots like Wimberley Cafe and Ino'z Brew & Chew. Note that pets aren't allowed in the Blue Hole swim lawn area itself, but they're welcome everywhere else in the park. Pro tip: pack booties for hot July limestone, which can scorch paws by mid-morning.
wimberleyparksandrec.com/blue-hole-regional-park/Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Wimberley?
Yes, RV delivery in Wimberley is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you are flying into Austin-Bergstrom or San Antonio International. Many RVezy hosts will tow or drive the rig directly to popular spots like Pioneer RV Park in Wimberley, Mystic Quarry near Canyon Lake, or a private ranch you have booked. They will level it, hook up water, sewer, and 30/50-amp electric, then walk you through everything from the awning to the propane shutoff. Filter by Delivery on RVezy to see hosts offering this option. Pro tip: delivery is a game-changer for first time renting an RV travelers who would rather not drive a 30-footer down winding Ranch Road 12.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Wimberley%2C%20TexasHow far can I drive on a Wimberley RV trip, and is unlimited mileage available?
You've got plenty of road to explore from Wimberley, and many hosts on RVezy offer RV rental with unlimited mileage or generous daily allowances (typically 100 to 150 free miles per day) for an easy add-on fee. Wimberley sits in the heart of Hill Country, so popular drives stay short: Austin is about 45 miles north, San Antonio 60 miles south, Fredericksburg 65 miles west, and Canyon Lake just 20 miles away. Always check the mileage policy on the listing before you book. Pro tip: if you're planning the full wine-and-wildflower loop through Johnson City and Fredericksburg, ask the host upfront about an unlimited mileage package to keep your budget predictable.
txdot.gov/data-maps/maps.htmlWhere are the best campgrounds near Wimberley for RV camping?
Wimberley is surrounded by some of the prettiest RV camping in Texas. Top picks include Horseshoe Ridge RV Resort on a 31-acre former horse ranch with full hookups and a pool, Pioneer RV Park right in town on Cypress Creek, Texas Hill Country Resort with an infinity pool and hot tub, Mystic Quarry near the Guadalupe River about 25 minutes south, and Blanco State Park 20 minutes west for a more rustic riverside experience. Pedernales Falls State Park is another bucket-list option about 30 minutes north. Pro tip: book Blanco and Pedernales through the Texas Parks & Wildlife reservation system up to five months out, especially for spring bluebonnet weekends.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/blancoWhen is the best time of year for an RV rental in Wimberley, TX?
Spring (mid-March through May) and fall (late September through November) are the sweet spots for an RV rental in Wimberley, TX, when daytime highs run a comfortable 70 to 85 degrees and the Hill Country bluebonnets or cypress foliage put on a show. Summer (June through August) brings highs in the upper 90s and even low 100s, but it's prime swimming-hole season at Blue Hole and Jacob's Well. Winters are mild with highs in the 50s and 60s and rarely any snow, making December and January a quiet, cheap RV rental Wimberley option. Pro tip: book a March trip to catch wildflowers along Devil's Backbone Scenic Drive.
weather.gov/ewx/I've never driven an RV. Will I be okay in Wimberley?
You'll do great, and you won't be left to figure it out alone. Every RVezy host gives you a full orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, hookups, the generator, slide-outs, and any quirks of the rig. Wimberley's roads are mostly two-lane and scenic (think Ranch Road 12 and Ranch Road 32) with relaxed speed limits, so it's a far gentler first time renting an RV than navigating Austin's I-35. Stick with a Class B campervan rental Wimberley or smaller Class C if you're nervous. Pro tip: do your first practice loop along the flat stretch of FM 2325 toward Blanco before tackling the curvy Devil's Backbone.
txdot.gov/driver/share-the-road.htmlWhat happens if I break down during my Wimberley RV trip?
You are never stranded. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so one phone call connects you with help for flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, towing, and more, anywhere in the Hill Country. Cell service is solid throughout Wimberley, Dripping Springs, and along US-290, though it can dip on the back roads near Jacob's Well, so pull into a clearing if you need to call. Your host is also a message away through the RVezy app for any rig-specific questions. Pro tip: snap a photo of the nearest mile marker or cross-street so dispatch can reach you fast.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best road trips from Wimberley in an RV?
Wimberley is the perfect launchpad for an RV road trip from Wimberley into classic Texas country. Top routes: Fredericksburg wine country (65 miles, about 1 hour 20 minutes west) for Main Street shopping and 50+ wineries; Enchanted Rock State Natural Area (80 miles) for granite-dome hiking; Garner State Park on the Frio River (130 miles southwest) for cypress-lined swimming; Big Bend National Park (about 460 miles, a worthy 2-day haul); and the Gulf Coast at Port Aransas (250 miles). Travel within the U.S. is fully covered, but Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: tack on Luckenbach for a Sunday afternoon picket-fence jam session.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/enchanted-rockWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?
Budgeting fuel for your Hill Country trip is easy once you know the ballpark. Class B campervans get 18 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes typically run 8 to 12 MPG, and larger Class A coaches sit around 6 to 10 MPG. Most rigs run on regular unleaded, while diesel pushers need diesel. Texas gas prices are consistently among the lowest in the country (often $2.80 to $3.30 per gallon), and you'll find Buc-ee's, H-E-B, and Shell stations with RV-friendly pumps in nearby Kyle, San Marcos, and Dripping Springs. Pro tip: fill up at the Buc-ee's in New Braunfels before heading deeper into Hill Country where stations get sparse.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Wimberley?
Plan ahead and you'll snag the best spots. Texas State Parks (Blanco, Pedernales Falls, Guadalupe River) open reservations exactly 5 months in advance through the Texas Parks & Wildlife reservation system, and spring weekends fill within minutes. Private parks like Horseshoe Ridge RV Resort and Pioneer RV Park typically book 2 to 3 months ahead for weekends April through October. Weekdays and winter months are often available within a week. Pro tip: if you strike out on a Saturday at Blanco State Park, try a Sunday-through-Thursday stay, then booking a private RV park near Wimberley for the weekend night, you'll often find availability and quieter sites.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/reservationsWhat are local driving conditions like around Wimberley?
Driving around Wimberley is genuinely enjoyable: rolling two-lane roads, light traffic, and Texas-sized shoulders on most highways. Ranch Road 12 and FM 32 (the Devil's Backbone) are scenic but curvy, so take them slow in a larger motorhome rental Wimberley. Low-water crossings on the Blanco River can flood fast during spring storms, so never drive through moving water (Texas takes Turn Around Don't Drown seriously). Deer are very active at dawn and dusk, so plan arrivals before sunset. Pro tip: avoid I-35 between Austin and San Marcos during weekday rush hour (4 to 7 p.m.) by using SH-130 toll road or back-routing through Dripping Springs.
drivetexas.org/What hookups and amenities should I expect at Wimberley campgrounds?
Wimberley-area campgrounds are well-equipped for any RV. Most private RV parks (Horseshoe Ridge, Pioneer RV Park, Texas Hill Country Resort) offer full hookups with water, sewer, and 30/50-amp electric right at your site, plus Wi-Fi, laundry, and bathhouses. Texas State Parks like Blanco offer water and electric but require dump stations for sewer; Blanco State Park has a dump station near the park exit. Potable water fill stations are also available at the entrance. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking water hose and a basic surge protector. Hill Country thunderstorms can spike voltage at older pedestals, and the surge protector saves your RV's electronics for under $40.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/blanco/park_informationWhat's typically included inside the RV I rent?
Wimberley RVs on RVezy come ready for adventure. Standard equipment includes a kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave, sink, and cookware; a bathroom with toilet and shower; sleeping for 2 to 8 depending on the rig; air conditioning (essential for Texas summers); heat; and seatbelted seats for travel. Many hosts add bonus extras like outdoor speakers, smart TVs, Starlink Wi-Fi, generators for off-grid stays, and even bikes or tubing gear. Each listing has a detailed amenities list so there are no surprises. Pro tip: for August trips, confirm the RV has dual roof AC units. Single-AC rigs can struggle when Wimberley hits 100°F by lunchtime.
energy.gov/energysaver/air-conditioningWhat add-ons and options can I expect when booking?
Wimberley hosts offer some of the most useful add-ons in Texas. Popular options include delivery and setup (typically priced per mile from the host's location), generator use, propane refills, linens and towel packages, camp chair and table kits, bike racks, tubing gear (essential for the Blanco River), and pet fees. Mileage packages vary, with many hosts including 100 free miles per day and a per-mile rate after that, while others offer an unlimited mileage upgrade. Pickup and drop-off times are typically flexible by arrangement with the host. Pro tip: message your host two days before pickup to confirm everything is on the truck, especially tubes during summer.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Wimberley%2C%20TexasHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure. You pay through RVezy at booking with a credit or debit card, and the platform holds your funds to protect both you and the host. The refundable security deposit is separate from your booking payment and is pre-authorized on your card before pickup rather than charged, then released after return as long as the RV comes back in good shape with no damage. Pro tip: complete the pre-trip and post-trip inspection photos in the RVezy app at both pickup and drop-off. That documentation is the single best way to ensure your deposit returns quickly and in full.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksHow do I handle Wimberley's summer heat in an RV?
Summer in Wimberley is hot but very manageable with a few smart moves. Park in shaded sites (Mystic Quarry and Blanco State Park have great cypress and oak cover), run your AC on 50-amp service whenever possible, close shades on the sunny side of the rig by 10 a.m., and schedule driving for early morning or evening when temperatures drop into the 80s. Plan your days around water: Blue Hole Regional Park, Jacob's Well, and the Blanco River stay refreshingly cool. Pro tip: shoulder seasons (March to May and October to November) are the smart-money pick for RV camping Wimberley, with daytime highs in the 70s and 80s, lower nightly rates, and far better availability at the top Wimberley RV parks.
