Campgrounds and RV parks near Grantsville, UT

Grantsville sits in Tooele County at the south end of the Great Salt Lake, roughly 35 miles west of Salt Lake City along I-80. The town works well as an RV base for exploring the Stansbury Mountains, the salt flats to the west, and the lake shoreline to the north and east. Most nearby campgrounds cluster along the I-80 corridor and around the lake, with a smaller set of primitive sites tucked into national forest canyons above the valley. Great Salt Lake Park is the closest developed option on the lake itself. Partial hookup sites and one full hookup site sit near the visitor center overlooking the lake, plus two primitive beach tent-only sites with no hookups or vehicle access. Across the causeway on the north end of the lake, Antelope Island is home to a herd of 600 American bison, with three campgrounds for a total of 92 campsites, including White Rock Bay - Antelope Island State Park. For full-service RV parks with amenities aimed at families, Salt Lake City KOA Holiday and Sun Outdoors Salt Lake City are the closest options in the metro area, while Manti-La Sal KOA lies farther south for trips extending into central Utah.

Utah state park sites, including Great Salt Lake Park and White Rock Bay - Antelope Island State Park, are booked through the Utah State Parks reservation system on ReserveAmerica. Individual campsites are available for reservation on a four-month rolling basis; for example, on January 10 sites are available through May 10. Reservations must be made at least two days in advance, day prior and day of camping is first come first serve, and reservations are strongly recommended on weekends. Private parks such as Salt Lake City KOA Holiday, Sun Outdoors Salt Lake City, and Manti-La Sal KOA are booked directly through the operator's website or by phone. Summer weekends and holidays book out weeks ahead, especially for pull-through and full-hookup sites. Individual site cancellations made four days or more in advance of arrival incur a cancellation fee in addition to the reservation fee, and cancellations made less than 14 days in advance forfeit one night's fee.
