Campgrounds and RV parks near Park City, UT

Water recreation drives summer visits to Jordanelle Reservoir. The lake supports boating, waterskiing, jet skis, stand-up paddleboarding, and swimming, and holds brown trout, rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, and yellow perch. A non-motorized perimeter trail runs 22 miles between the Rock Cliff and Hailstone areas and is open to hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. Wasatch Mountain State Park adds four 18-hole golf courses, an extensive network of hiking, mountain-biking, ATV, and equestrian trails, and access to Soldier Hollow, the 2002 Olympic Nordic venue that runs year-round programming including tubing, cross-country skiing, biathlon, and mountain biking. Park City itself is a short drive for downtown Main Street, the ski resorts, and the Alpine Loop scenic byway.

The peak RV window at Park City runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Days are warm and dry, but the altitude keeps nights cool and afternoon thunderstorms are common in July and August. State-park loops fill on weekends and holidays, and the reservation window opens well in advance. Shoulder seasons carry tradeoffs. Snow can linger into May at higher loops, and Wasatch Mountain's Mahogany loop typically operates from Memorial Day to Labor Day. September and October bring cooler nights, aspen color, and easier availability, but freezing overnight lows are possible from October onward. The last spring freeze at Park City averages around late May and the first fall freeze around late September. Winter changes access sharply. Jordanelle State Park stays open year-round for day use, but the developed campgrounds close in the winter months and are typically not available for camping from roughly November through March. Wasatch Mountain keeps cabin rentals available through winter, and Soldier Hollow shifts to Nordic skiing and lift-served tubing.

Hookup levels vary by loop. At Wasatch Mountain State Park, Mahogany is all full hookups and accommodates rigs up to about 50 feet, while Oak Hollow provides water and electric only and mixes RV sites with tent-only sites, with a shorter maximum RV length. Hailstone at Jordanelle offers 103 RV sites with partial hookups (power and water), fire pits with grills, picnic tables, restrooms with hot showers, a laundry facility at Murdock Camp Services, and a dump station on the west side. Mchenry Creek is tent-only across four loops with restrooms, showers, and water; no RVs or trailers. Cell service is generally usable in the valley and spottier in surrounding canyons. Wildlife includes deer, moose, and occasional bears, so food should be stored securely, and layers plus sun protection are worth packing given the elevation.
