Campgrounds and RV parks near Ettrick, WI

Ettrick is a small village in Trempealeau County in western Wisconsin, roughly a half-hour drive north of La Crosse and within reach of the Mississippi River bluffs. The surrounding coulee country sits between the Black River and the Mississippi, with rolling farmland, trout streams, and hardwood ridges shaping most of the RV camping options in the area. Most campgrounds within a short drive of Ettrick are privately run family resorts along the Black or Trempealeau river valleys, including Champions Riverside Resort near Galesville, Whispering Pines Campground near Holmen, and smaller stops such as Pietrek Park and Lake Road Campground. These parks lean toward full-service sites suited to travel trailers and motorhomes. For a more rustic bluff-top experience, Main - Great River Bluffs State Park sits across the river in Minnesota, less than an hour west, and offers drive-in sites managed by the Minnesota DNR. Together these options cover both hookup resort camping and quieter state-park stays.

Private campgrounds in the Ettrick area are booked directly with each operator. Champions Riverside Resort, Whispering Pines Campground, Pietrek Park, and Lake Road Campground each handle their own reservations by phone or through their websites, and holiday weekends often need to be locked in several months ahead. For Main - Great River Bluffs State Park, sites are handled through the Minnesota state park system. Reservations open up to 120 days in advance through the Minnesota DNR, and a Minnesota vehicle permit is required in addition to camping fees. The DNR call center takes phone reservations year-round, with extended daily hours from April through September. Renters bringing a larger rig should confirm site length, hookup type, and slide-out clearance when booking, since many bluff-country sites are wooded and shorter than posted maximums.
