Campgrounds and RV parks near Grantsburg, WI

Grantsburg sits in Burnett County in northwestern Wisconsin, on the edge of the 30,000-acre Crex Meadows State Wildlife Area and within a short drive of the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. The village is roughly 90 minutes northeast of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro, which makes it a common weekend target for Twin Cities RV travelers heading into the north woods. Campground options in the immediate area lean toward small private resorts and semi-modern state facilities rather than large commercial parks. Named sites nearby include Cedar Point Resort and Campgrounds, Birchwood Beach Campgrounds, Skonewood Christian Retreat, and Pathfinder Village-St Croix. Across the river in Minnesota, Wild River State Park offers a larger, reservable state-park campground along the St. Croix. The landscape mixes marsh, prairie, and mixed woodland, with lakes and slow-moving rivers rather than dramatic elevation. Expect wildlife-heavy stays: sandhill cranes, trumpeter swans, eagles, and waterfowl are common sightings, especially during spring and fall migration.

Wild River State Park reservations run through the Minnesota state parks system. Sites can be booked up to 120 days in advance online, or by phone at 866-857-2757. A separate Minnesota state park vehicle permit is required in addition to the camping fee, and this applies to any Wisconsin-based RV traveler crossing over. Private campgrounds near Grantsburg, including Cedar Point Resort and Campgrounds, Birchwood Beach Campgrounds, Skonewood Christian Retreat, and Pathfinder Village-St Croix, are booked directly with each operator by phone or through their websites. For the Crex Meadows rest-area camping, register at the Crex Meadows Visitor Center at 102 East Crex Avenue in Grantsburg either before setting up or the following morning; sites are first-come, first-served with no power.
