Campgrounds and RV parks near Manawa, WI

The Little Wolf River is the main draw, with tubing, kayaking, and canoeing popular through the warm months. Wolf River Campgrounds and nearby liveries run shuttles for paddlers on the lower stretches, and Hucklberry Acres Campgrounds/Bar Restaurant sits along the same river corridor. Anglers work Bear Lake and the smaller area lakes for panfish, bass, and northern pike, and the Wolf River system adds walleye and catfish water within a short drive. Cyclists and hikers use quiet county roads and the trail networks around Hartman Creek State Park to the west. Manawa is also known for the annual Mid-Western Rodeo, a PRCA rodeo sponsored by the Manawa Lions that draws over 15,000 people to town over the Fourth of July weekend, which books local campgrounds well in advance.

The Wisconsin RV season effectively runs from May through mid-October. Most private campgrounds around Manawa open in late April or early May and close by mid to late October, with a shoulder window in April and November when only limited sites or self-registration may be available. Winter camping is uncommon; expect frozen hookups and closed facilities. Summer is peak season. June through August brings warm days, active river tubing, and the busiest weekends around the Fourth of July, when the Mid-Western Rodeo fills sites in and near Manawa. Weekday reservations are easier to secure than Fridays and Saturdays. Early fall is a strong window for RV travelers who want cooler nights, fewer bugs, and color change through the hardwood forests. Late September into mid-October typically delivers peak foliage in this part of Wisconsin. Spring can be wet, and river levels sometimes run high after snowmelt or heavy rain, which affects paddling access and low-lying sites.

Sites around Manawa range from grassy pull-throughs at family resorts to shaded wooded back-ins along the river. Most private parks offer water and electric hookups, with full hookups more limited and often reserved for longer stays. Dump stations are standard at the larger campgrounds. Cell coverage is inconsistent once outside the city limits, and some riverside campgrounds have weak signal, so downloading maps and reservations in advance is smart. Roads to the campgrounds are paved county highways with a few gravel final approaches; big rigs should confirm site length and overhead clearance when booking. Expect a social, family-oriented atmosphere at the resort-style parks, with playgrounds, pools, and organized activities, and a quieter feel at the smaller lake and river campgrounds. Mosquitoes and ticks are active from late spring through summer, so bring repellent.
