It was a wonderful experience. The RV was great, comfortable, and perfect for our family trip. Rafal was an amazing host — very kind, respectful, helpful, and professional. He was always available when we needed help or had any questions. Everything went smoothly, and we really enjoyed our trip. I highly recommend Rafal and his RV, and I would definitely rent from him again in the future. Thank you so much, Rafal!

Our Trailer rental from Pam and Mike was perfect. Immaculately clean, fully equipped with all the essentials, deluvered and picke up on time and perfectly situated to let us enjoy the park's stunning natural beauty. We spent our days hiking the beautiful trails and relaxing by the campfire, knowing we had a comfortable, warm bed waiting for us each night. This trailer rental is the ultimate way to go, we highly recommend.

We had such a wonderful experience with this RV! It was very new, super clean, and had everything we could possibly need for a comfortable camping trip. The owner was incredibly thoughtful and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. When they found out we were traveling with a child, they even prepared a s’mores kit for us. It was such a sweet and thoughtful surprise! The two camping chairs were also huge and extremely comfortable. You can really tell that the owner put a lot of thought into making the RV comfortable and convenient for guests. Honestly, this is one of the best RV experiences we’ve ever had, and the owner is by far one of the most thoughtful and caring hosts we’ve met. We would absolutely rent this RV again and highly recommend it!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Algonquin Highlands, ON
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Algonquin Highlands?
RV rental in Algonquin Highlands is more affordable than most Ontarians expect. On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $100 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes range from about $200 to $275 per night, and larger or newer rigs can run higher. Many hosts offer 10 to 20 percent discounts on weekly or monthly stays, which is perfect for a longer Algonquin RV trip exploring Haliburton lakes and the Highway 60 corridor. To find a cheap RV rental in Algonquin Highlands, travel in late spring or after Labour Day, when nightly rates drop and the parks are quieter. Pro tip: filter for Instant Book listings near Minden, Dorset or Carnarvon to lock in the best value, then add a generator if you plan to camp without electrical hookups inside Algonquin Park.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Algonquin%20Highlands%2C%20OntarioWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Algonquin Highlands, Ontario?
Good news: a regular Ontario G class driver's license (or its equivalent from your home province, state or country) is all you need to rent an RV in Algonquin Highlands. No special RV endorsement or commercial license is required for the Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, travel trailers and fifth wheels available on RVezy. You'll need to be at least 25 years old, and your ID is verified securely through the RVezy platform before pickup. Visiting from overseas? Pair your home license with an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto club for around $25. Once you're verified, you're cleared to point the rig toward Highway 60 and start your Algonquin adventure.
ontario.ca/page/driving-licensingIs the RV protected if something goes wrong during my trip?
Yes. Every RV rental in Algonquin Highlands booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the backroads around Dorset Lookout Tower or Hollow River with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers most damage to the vehicle, and you choose the coverage level that fits your comfort and budget at checkout. Coverage tiers and inclusions are set by RVezy, not by the host. Pro tip: review the coverage tiers carefully when you book, since bumping up a level often costs less than a single restaurant meal in Minden and is well worth it for a worry-free Algonquin RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Algonquin Highlands RV booking?
Cancelling is far less stressful than most first-time renters expect. RVezy sets the cancellation policy across every listing (it is not host-defined), and there is a grace period after booking during which you can cancel for a full refund. After that window, your refund depends on how far out from your trip you cancel. Exact terms are shown during checkout and in your RVezy account, and the RVezy support team can help if a host cancels on you. Pro tip: book your rig early to secure the best Algonquin Highlands inventory, then rest easy knowing the RVezy cancellation policy has you covered if plans change.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an Algonquin Highlands RV trip?
Absolutely, and Algonquin is one of the most dog-friendly destinations in Ontario. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to find a pet-friendly RV rental in Algonquin Highlands where your pup is welcome inside the rig. Dogs are permitted on leash at most Algonquin Provincial Park campgrounds along Highway 60, including Lake of Two Rivers, Pog Lake, Mew Lake and Rock Lake, while Canisbay Lake has dog-free camping areas if you prefer quieter neighbours. Trails like the Spruce Bog Boardwalk and Track and Tower are great leashed walks. Pro tip: pack a tick remover and a long lead, since the wooded sites around Haliburton are wildlife-rich and dogs must stay leashed at all times.
ontarioparks.ca/park/algonquinCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Algonquin Park?
Yes, RV delivery in Algonquin Highlands is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers who don't want to drive a big rig down Highway 60. Many local hosts will deliver and set up a travel trailer or motorhome directly at your reserved site at campgrounds like Mew Lake, Pog Lake, Lake of Two Rivers, Canisbay Lake or Rock Lake, plus private parks in the Huntsville area. They'll level the rig, connect to the electrical post, prime the water and give you a full walkthrough before leaving. Delivery fees are set by each host based on distance from their home base in Minden, Haliburton or Huntsville. Pro tip: message the host before booking with your campground name and site number for a fast, accurate delivery quote.
ontarioparks.ca/park/algonquin/campingHow far can I travel from Algonquin Highlands on a typical RV rental?
Plenty far. Most Algonquin Highlands hosts include a generous daily mileage allowance, and several offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for a longer Ontario loop. From the township of Algonquin Highlands you're about 45 minutes to Algonquin Park's West Gate at Oxtongue Lake, 2.5 hours to Toronto, 3.5 hours to Ottawa, 2 hours to Killbear Provincial Park on Georgian Bay, and roughly 4 hours to Bon Echo Provincial Park. If you exceed the included kilometres, hosts charge a small per-kilometre overage (usually $0.25 to $0.45). Pro tip: map your route in advance and ask the host about a flat-rate mileage add-on if you're planning a multi-park RV road trip from Algonquin Highlands.
ontario.ca/page/road-trips-ontarioWhere are the best campgrounds to stay near Algonquin Highlands?
You're spoiled for choice. Some of the best campgrounds near Algonquin Highlands include Mew Lake Campground (the only Algonquin Park campground open year-round, off Highway 60), Lake of Two Rivers (large sandy beach, electrical sites, very family-friendly), Pog Lake (quiet, wooded, close to the Old Railway Bike Trail), Rock Lake Campground (scenic lakeside with electrical sites) and Canisbay Lake (with dog-free camping options for light sleepers). For private options, Wolf Den Nature Retreat near Oxtongue Lake and resorts around Huntsville are excellent. Pro tip: Algonquin Park sites do not have sewer or water hookups, so fill your fresh-water tank before entry and plan to use the park dump stations along Highway 60 on your way out.
ontarioparks.ca/park/algonquin/campingWhen is the best time of year for RV camping in Algonquin Highlands?
Algonquin Highlands shines from mid-May through mid-October, but each window has its own magic. June offers long daylight and fewer bugs once blackfly season fades, with daytime highs around 22 to 25 C. July and August bring warm 25 to 28 C swimming weather and the busiest campgrounds. The real insider season is mid-September to mid-October, when the famous Algonquin fall colours along Highway 60 peak (usually the last week of September into the first week of October) and overnight temperatures dip to 5 to 10 C. Winter RV camping is possible at Mew Lake Campground, which stays open year-round with electrical sites. Pro tip: book your fall-colour RV camping in Algonquin Highlands the day reservations open, five months out, because peak weekends sell out within minutes.
ontarioparks.ca/park/algonquinI've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay around Algonquin?
You'll be just fine, and you're in great company because most first-time renters here have never driven anything bigger than an SUV. Every Algonquin Highlands host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, covering driving tips, the propane system, leveling, dumping and the awning. Highways 35 and 60 are wide, well-maintained two-lane roads with gentle grades through the Canadian Shield, which makes them ideal for first time renting an RV. Stick to a Class B campervan or a 24-foot Class C if you're nervous, and you'll handle the curves around Dorset and Oxtongue Lake with ease. Pro tip: ask your host about delivery to your campsite for your first trip; many in Haliburton and Minden offer it, and it removes all driving stress.
ontario.ca/page/drivers-and-vehiclesWhat if I break down or have a problem on the road?
Help is one phone call away. Every motorhome rental in Algonquin Highlands booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering things like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery and towing. That matters in cottage country, where cell service can be spotty between Dorset and Whitney. Your host is also reachable by message through the RVezy app, and RVezy customer support is available before, during and after your trip. Pro tip: snap a photo of the rig's VIN, plate and roadside assistance number at pickup, and download offline maps for the Highway 60 corridor before you lose signal past the West Gate.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take the RV across the border into the United States?
Cross-border trips from Algonquin Highlands are often possible, but it depends on the individual host's insurance policy. Many Ontario hosts do allow US travel (popular routes head south through Buffalo to the Finger Lakes or west to Michigan's Upper Peninsula), while others restrict the rental to Canada only. Always message the host before booking to confirm and request written permission in the RVezy chat so it's on record. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage does not extend there. Pro tip: if you're planning a US leg, bring your passport, the host's signed authorization letter, the vehicle ownership and insurance documents, and declare any food or firewood at the border, as both have restrictions.
cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/menu-eng.htmlWhat kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I plan for?
Budgeting fuel for an RV road trip from Algonquin Highlands is easier than you'd think. Class B campervans average 9 to 11 L/100km (roughly 22 to 26 mpg), Class C motorhomes run 16 to 20 L/100km (12 to 15 mpg), and a truck towing a travel trailer lands around 18 to 22 L/100km. Gas prices in Haliburton County typically run a few cents higher than in Toronto, so top up in Huntsville or Bracebridge on the way in. A typical 4-day, 600 km loop through Algonquin Park and back will run roughly $150 to $250 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: the last reliable fuel stop before the West Gate is at Oxtongue Lake or Dwight, and there's no fuel inside Algonquin Park itself.
nrcan.gc.ca/energy/fuel-prices/18885How far in advance should I book a campground near Algonquin?
As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Ontario Parks opens reservations exactly five months ahead of your arrival date through reservations.ontarioparks.ca, so for a July 1 arrival you'd book on February 1 at 7 a.m. Eastern. Popular sites at Mew Lake, Lake of Two Rivers, Pog Lake and Rock Lake often sell out within minutes for July, August and fall-colour weekends. The full cost is due at booking, and a non-refundable reservation fee applies. Pro tip: if Algonquin Park is full, look at private parks in Algonquin Highlands like Hidden Valley Resort or Halls Lake, or aim for a Sunday-to-Thursday stay where availability is much better and you can still enjoy world-class RV camping in Algonquin Highlands.
ontarioparks.ca/reservationsWhat are the driving conditions like around Algonquin Highlands?
Driving in Algonquin Highlands is mostly relaxed cottage-country cruising, but a few local quirks are worth knowing. Highways 35, 60 and 118 are paved, two-lane and well-maintained, with rolling hills, granite cuts and the occasional steep grade near Dorset and Oxtongue Lake. Watch for moose and deer at dawn and dusk, especially between Dwight and Whitney; collisions spike in spring and fall. Side roads off the highways can be narrow, winding and gravel, so confirm RV access with your campground first. In winter, expect snow and ice from late November through March, and Highway 60 inside the park can close briefly during heavy storms. Pro tip: download the 511 Ontario app for live road conditions before you roll out of Minden or Haliburton.
511on.ca/What amenities should I expect at campgrounds near Algonquin Highlands?
Expect clean, well-equipped Ontario Parks campgrounds with everything you need for a comfortable RV trip. Sites at Mew Lake, Two Rivers, Pog Lake, Canisbay Lake and Rock Lake offer 30-amp electrical hookups (shared between two neighbouring sites), flush-toilet comfort stations, hot showers and pay laundry. There are no water or sewer hookups anywhere inside Algonquin Park, so fill your fresh-water tank at the entrance and use the dump stations at km 35 of Highway 60 or at Rock Lake Campground. Private parks like Sun Retreats Huntsville and Wolf Den offer full hookups, Wi-Fi and pools. Pro tip: pack a 50-foot 30-amp extension cord, because Ontario Parks electrical posts are often farther from your site than you'd expect, especially at Rock Lake.
algonquinpark.on.ca/visit/camping/rv-camping-in-algonquin-park.phpWhat's inside a typical Algonquin Highlands RV rental?
Modern comfort, even deep in the woods. A typical RV rental in Algonquin Highlands comes fully equipped with sleeping for 4 to 8 (a queen bed plus convertible dinette and bunks), a kitchen with three-burner propane stove, microwave, fridge/freezer and sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, a furnace, air conditioning and a propane water heater. Most rigs include a roof-mounted or onboard generator, exterior awning, outdoor speakers and seatbelts for every passenger required by Ontario law. Many hosts add a flat-screen TV, Bluetooth stereo and a Starlink or hotspot since Algonquin Park cell coverage is patchy. Pro tip: a campervan rental in Algonquin Highlands is perfect for couples chasing the fall colours, while a Class C suits a family RV trip in Algonquin Highlands with the kids and gear.
ontario.ca/laws/regulation/900613What add-ons and pickup options do hosts typically offer?
Algonquin Highlands hosts make customizing your trip easy. Common add-ons include kitchen kits ($30 to $60), bedding packages ($25 to $50 per bed), portable BBQs, camp chairs and tables, bike racks, paddleboards, kayaks, generators and pet cleaning fees. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Minden, Haliburton, Carnarvon or Dorset between 1 and 4 p.m., with drop-off by 11 a.m. Many hosts offer RV delivery in Algonquin Highlands directly to your campground for a flat fee, which is gold for first-timers. Mileage policies typically include 200 to 300 km per day, with extra kilometres at a modest per-km rate. Pro tip: bundle delivery, generator and a kitchen kit to skip packing your own gear from the city for your Algonquin RV trip.
ontario.ca/page/transportationHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple, secure and fully handled through the RVezy platform, so you'll never hand cash to a host. You pay with a credit card at booking, and the host receives funds after pickup, which protects both sides. A refundable security deposit (set by the host) is pre-authorized on your card before your trip and released back to you shortly after a clean return with no damage and no extra cleaning required. The security deposit is held separately from the booking payment. To rent an RV in Algonquin Highlands smoothly, do a thorough walkthrough at pickup and drop-off, take dated photos of the interior, exterior and odometer, and return the rig with tanks dumped and fuel topped up. Pro tip: a quick interior sweep before drop-off near Minden or Haliburton is the easiest way to protect your full deposit.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works
